I was playing the game for a few hours today and one of my cities was attacked. I fought and won the battle and when I was taken back into the game from the battle my game crashed and I get the following error, "Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit."
When I try to run the game and click "Continue Campaign" the game crashes and I get the same error. If I load a different campaign everything works fine. I believe that means it must be something with this certain campaign. Is there anything I can do to not lose the past few hours of game play and insure this won't happen again? I would hate to lose all of the time I put into this campaign, but I definitely learned to save often.
Here are a couple of details that may help:
It is Medieval 2: Total War.
I bought the game through steam.
I am an administrator on the pc.
Corrupted save. Nothing you can do about it.
The way the game is optimized and allocates ram inspite of Windows' best efforts, a few hours in one stretch of fighting battles maybe too long no matter how much ram you have.
