SS6.4 wont start

I recently downloaded SS6.4 patch and downloaded it according to the given instructions. After selecting the campaign settings and clicking "Start and Exit"
an error occurs - "Medieval 2:Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit."
I have posted my log.

If you find Mods Folder in MTW, then SS6.3, you will find SS Setup, Right Click and Run as Admin

no change, still not working.And I forgot to mention that I had SS6.3 before and it was working fine.

Was the UAC disabled at installation?

yes the UAC was disabled and i restarted my laptop after doing so

It very much looks like a bad install, I would d/l 6.4 again, incase you have a faulty d/l. then re-install 6.3, then 6.4 all with UAC disabled and Run as Admin

Reinstalled both with UAC disabled , redownloaded 6.4 patch and ran it as admin(run as admin).Still the same thing.
(Also if it makes a difference I have my medieval 2 total war and kingdoms in D drive.Stainless Steel is also in D/mods)

Hi there and welcome to TWC Forums!

You have to install 6.3 first ( it`s a base of the game), and then 6.4 Patch.

It should work, just edit the security of your main M2TW folder BEFORE installing SS.

Delete. Re install base medieval and SS on c drive. I ran into problems when I tried to move it. Re download SS just incase you got a bad download

yeah thats a bad install.

A) you operating system

B) you game version (gold, etc etc)

C) your patch version (1.4/1.5)

D) your install path on your computer

E) take a gander at my guide (in my signature)

with this info i can probably help you.

Why? all other mods that I had (do not have any more) seemed to work fine?

SS didn't work for me unless I put it on the c drive. You can try re downloading ss and see if that works. If that doesnt then you will have to re install m2

it works fine as long as its on the same drive as your mtw2 install. Thats all that matters, mine is on like g or something....i have alot of hdds.

Anyways...sounds like you had a corrupted file, my guess is either a bad permission install (aka didn't right click run as admin) so the 'launcher' (aka .exe install file) couldn't overwrite the base ss6.3 mod files correctly. Happens alot on win7/vista.

Or UAC moved a couple of files out of the folder into its virtual store and the game needed those to run and doesn't have the software to follow the tracers, so copying it over fixed it.

But glad its working, let me know if you run into any problems or need more help.

Finally I Seem to have figured it out
So here's what i did:

I installed the patch on a new folder separately in the C drive.
Then I copied everything but the launcher From the new folder to the main SS3 folder.
And then I started the game and Voila!!! It surprisingly worked!!!
I played the campaign for a few turns, and a few battles and noticed no bugs..

The problem seemed to be with the launcher.
Anyways thanks for your help!!!
