    Default Provinces and regions

Just wondering. The four territories that Rome have or the ones that Carthage have for that matter, is all of those four territories a region each? Is the whole of Rome a region itself at the start of the game, and those four territories are part of Rome's one region? Someone enlighten me!

Those territories are regions. Judging from how the map looks I think the southern three regions in Italy will be a province with Brundisium as it's capital and Rome + the two regions north of it are a province with Rome as the capital.

Watching the map, I think that Brundisium is part of the province Magna Graecia with Cosentia, Syracuse and Lylibaeum

So is regions bigger than provinces? Would a region contain a for example four provinces or is it the other way around?

    Regions hold provinces.

It's the other way around. A province contains a couple of regions. As far as I understand, every region basically works like in other Total War games but if you control all regions in a province you'll be able to issue edicts in that province to get things like higher happiness or tax income and stuff like that.

"Regions are now grouped into provinces. Each has a single administration center, into which the surrounding regions report. The goal is to reduce some of the area micromanagement that occurs in vast empires."

    So yup. You're right Dreagon.
It'll be exciting to see for myself how this works ingame.

So based on that, if we play as Rome we have no other choice but destroy the Etrsucan League if we want to have full control of Italia. We'll there go my plans of invading Greece in the first turns....

You don't have to. You can attack whatever you want but I think it would be the best strategy to take control of Italy first to create a powerful base from which you can attack other areas.
