Default Glorious Online League - Come join!

Hey guys, I wanted to post a league I was hoping to organize for Rome II: Total War, and hopefully have it sponsored alongside Rhodes Hoplites clan.

Rome II will have a 4 player co-op campaign, so I've been thinking of an idea to allow players to have larger scale campaign with many people involved, opposed to only 4 and the AI. The details need to be worked out, but I'm confident we can create something very fun and strategic together.

How I hope for this to work, is each faction fights to conquer territories and eventually make their faction dominant over the world. The faction that controls the most territory by the end of the campaign wins. When you conquer a territory, some team members will need to defend it, while others will need to go on the offensive to claim more territory - your team will need to decide who who fight in siege combat, while others fight in open field battles.

At the start of the campaign, teams will have a certain amount of gold to create their beginning army; perhaps capturing territory can earn you more gold and manpower, allowing you to train new troops or upgrade your existing ones. The details still need to be worked out. We can use the game's world map as our campaign map, and each territory will be represented and played out on the custom MP maps available to us. To keep track of the campaign, the territories will be labeled.

An advantage to a custom campaign league like this, we can create new factions that currently aren't in the game yet. At first we can do this by using the custom units available. For example; let's say there's Iberian mercenary units ingame, we can use them for the Iberian team. If mods start to make new factions and units, we can start to use them as well in the future.

    Teams to register for:

    Rome:
    Carthage:
    Ptolemaics:
    Macedon:
    Sparta League:
    Athenian League:
    Epirus:
    Achaean League:
    Gaul:
    Germania:
    Britania:
    Parthia:
    Pontus:

Possible Factions we can expect to register with enough player support-
    Iberia:
    Seleucids:
    Dacians:
    Sarmatians:
    Scythians:
    Numidians:
    Syrians:

Teams I'd like to create, but unsure if there's sufficient amount of units to make them viable. We've seen Iberian mercs ingame, but I'm unsure if they have enough to be competitive, but I think they likely will. If anyone feel there's any other factions they feel should be available, let me know. Once we know what units will be in-game, we can decide for sure what other teams we possibly can create. I'm hoping there will be enough units to represent factions Iberia, Dacia, Sarmatia, Numidia etc.

Please let me know if you're interested, and any positive ideas are important to help get this league up and running once the game comes out. If anyone has skills making websites, creating and editing images (custom maps, graphics etc), and if any modders would like to offer their skills to the League, that would be very awesome! Maybe we can create a website for for the clan and feature this league on the site?

That map was just a reference for the campaign map, but those dots were put there by someone else. We will need our own map made to represent our starting positions. We'll also need many more people to make this work right.

Worst comes to worst, we can set up battles like Table-top games where we have a certain amount of points before a match, and we create our army roster with what points are available. We can then have straight up matches (1v1, 2v2, 3v3) with the armies we represent. Perhaps we could even have some fictional story behind our campaign and explain the background of the circumstances of each battle.

I can't do this on my own, so if you're really interested, help me recruit and tell your friends about the league. If anyone has good ideas to offer or skill to help make this more organized and credible (making a website for instance), let me know.

This was a similar league I made for Blood Bowl, and it turned out quite well because we had a dedicated group that made the league succeed becuase of their dedication. I'd like to to the same thing for Rome II, and also have a website like this for us to use.http://www.rmbbl.net/svsforum/index.php

Will do on the recuriting. Perhaps to start a simple forum site to exchange ideas and work out the details and rules?

That's 5 when you include yourself, so that not bad at all. I already have a few other friends too, so we're doing well already. We don't need a huge amount of people, we just need good quality players who will be willing to play weekly, and who are looking for some fun and friendly competition in this setting we all love.

That would be great to have a site for our own forum, and then have the ability to organize and discuss things in more detail there. I'd also like to have a site to show battle reports and screenshots (maybe even videos) of the results after a match; calendar showing people when their planned matches will take place; and a detailed map that can be updated after each match so everyone can strategize and keep track of the campaign etc.

I don't even know what CA's avatar map idea is, and secondly I created this same concept back in 2010 for a league using game Dawn of War II.

Anyhow, this league is still in the making, but I realized it won't work well with people outside the US or Canada. So I'm primarily recruiting members who are in US & Canada time zones, otherwise it's going to be very difficult to arrange match times for everyone.

Any TWC members from US or Canada are welcome to join us at "Rhodes Hoplites" clan to play with us in both Rome at War mod for Mount & Blade Warband, and Rome II once it's released.
