Javelins

So they mentioned that, because of animation restrictions, all javelins are going to be 6 feet long which is sort of ploblematic to me. One of the problems with the first game is that there never seemed to be much differentiantion between tyes of javelin.

In reality a 4 foot long, finger-width verutum w/throwing string would have been a completely different animal compared to a 3-5 pound pilum. The former should have way more range (2 or 3 times at least) while the latter should be able to punch clean through 2 gallic shields at once.

Maybe visually the javelins will be the same length but could be given different values depending on the type. So a unit with pila may look similar to other skirmishers but the javelins perform differently once thrown. If that makes sense.

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. Visually I just don't think it is a big deal.

Warscape has a projectile table where such things could probably be modded. Isn't it ?
