Default Suggestion : Being able to deploy artillery on walls and on top of towers

I was always frustrated in Rome Total War that you couldn't put artillery units on walls or in towers if you were defending. Defending or attacking towns were the main uses of artillery in the ancient world - it was sometimes used in field battles but i can only think of a handful of battles in which it was mentioned as being used on a large scale and making any significant difference (Alexander using bolt throwers vs the Scythians on the Jaxartes , the Phocians using stone throwers against Phillip the V of Macedon are the only two i can remember)

It would be really nice if you could deploy artillery units on town walls and in towers in Rome II. If it was heavy artillery obviously they'd be stuck there for the rest of the battle.

I hope that you can upgrade your city's fortification so that they can have onager-towers and ballista-towers.

I think you'll be able to build these in preset models, i.e. Onager quinquereme, Balista quinquereme, etc. There will be around 200 naval units. Of course I may be mistaken, but I don't think I will be. Mediterranean shipbuilding was not very varied, you had the Western and Eastern Med construction techniques. After that there were the Eastern giant ships but in general there wasn't a big difference in ship design. Just like in NTW - you have merchants, small ships, small Fregate/Corvette, 32, 38, 50, 64, 74, 80, 90 and 106-gun ships. Some variations for nationality and some specific designs like the carronade frigate and the razee, but apart from that everything was identical. I just want to see some special ammo for the artillery like the bear claw for example

As for artillery on/in walls, I would like to see that very much, but I wouldn't get my hopes too high.

Yes of course. If you had played BFME2, sth like that i believe it would be fantastic!!!

Building a defense, i don't know why, but it is always for me very, very interesting.

The romans did historically mount artillery, both ballistae and catapults on their larger ships, in addition to their main weapon, a ram.

Atleast the Scorpion and smaller ones should be able to be placed on walls, an Onager dosn't really have any problems shooting over the walls?

It does actually, at least as far as I can remember (haven't gotten onagers in a long time). Once you get stone walls, siege equipment becomes basically useless in defending against sieges. Immovable deployment on the walls makes sense, but it also would make it a bit difficult for the defenders if the attackers just choose to assault another section of wall

i hope to see this be done like it was with Shogun 2 and FOTS which basically you start out with no towers then upgrade to the basic towers shooting arrows then matchlock and finally i think it was Gatling guns, so in Rome II you'll start out with no towers and then as you upgrade you get more options like a catapult one, or balista one and like some other dude from another thread said maybe even be able to control your gates and drop boulders or the oil thingy...it'll be awesome
