    Default Idea: controlling settlements/castle's defenses

As I was playing Medieval II the other day and I was defending my fortress against a large Egyptian army and my stupid defenses were shooting at the weakest infantry the army had, an idea came to mind, why can’t I control where they shoot? For example:
    1) Control each tower and where they shoot, just by clicking the tower you want to select(as long as the walls are occupied by your force) and then selecting fire arrows or no fire arrows and then selecting which unit they should fire at, basically just like you would with a ranged infantry unit.
    2) Also controlling when the oil (or whatever theyused) is released onto soldiers trying to break through the gates. Although I don’tknow if this applies to Rome II, I’m not sure if they used oil or not
    3) Another idea is using traps like boulders or something else to drop on the enemy
    4) Any other ideas you guys might like to see in controlling your settlements defenses?

hmmmmm i think it would mess with the AI, because they would have the same ability, might add some bugs. But besides that fact, yea it would be cool and make castle walls more appealing and a good investment.

Well obviously this feature would not be available to the AI, instead they would use the current (maybe improved) tower targeting system.

you can already control the towers like you mentioned in shogun 2,.... other ideas seem pretty cool and doable

thanks for the input guys, I forgot about the towers in shogun 2, and I guess the AI struggles enough with figuring out what they want to do, wont want them to have to take on an extra task

I'd love to have direct control over the towers. Not only to target them tactically, but also because I've lost way too many troops trying to kill the last few men of an enemy unit while my ballista tower fires indiscriminately into the crowd.

Shogun 2 also had extremely limited defenses when compared to RTW or M2TW. In a city with dozens of towers, are we going to able to micromanage each one?

Hopefully, as in shogun 2, they'll be in auto-attack mode all the time, but you'll be able to give them specific orders. If we are lucky maybe we'll get something like an "all towers attack X if possible" command or "make unit X the priority target".
