    Default TWR2 Documentation

I don't know why most gamestudios believe they are exempt from software development due diligence on documentation. Maybe as the game industry is getting more professional i.e. more suits, less long hair, this will improve, but this is something CA really need to prioritize. All the manuals for titles up to ETW (I don't know about STW2) was horrible - if not misleading. This is not a task for the office intern, it's a key role on the Scrum/project team.

Previously TW modders have had to respond to many of the issues raised by TWC members simply because CA were not available/responding post-release. I hope this will improve.

DLC #6: "Manual for RTW2 - early bird offer @ $19.99 only" ....exaggeration is good for learning

    /KP

p.s. the same applies to the assembly kit

There have been always "manuals" on all TW games .
Tutorials and now withTWS 2 a wiki ingame where you have all the information you wish to know about the game.

Maybe in Sweden they have launched a diferent version or maybe people like to write without knowing what they are doing, but,in the rest of the world TW always had and have a kind of manual mate.

Haven't you noticed? the developers don't make long manuals anymore, like none of them do. Most of them are 2-4 pages long and they just show the interface and controls.

Documentation for the game (manual) AND the Modding Tools.

Because some of us actually RTFM and it reduces the amount of player questions this and other TW communities have to answer.

An updated version of FAUST would be nice.

The unit guide for M2TW made by a TWC member? Nice to have I think, but not needed. They do need to describe all the core game features in the manual though.

They did have a proper manual for medieval 2 (that explained all/most of the features in the game). If you bought the games via steam you can check out the manual for them by clicking on "manual" to the right when you have selected the game, for example here is Shogun 2's manual : http://cdn2.steampowered.com/Manuals...f?t=1361399402 .
Though I do prefer to have proper reading material for the game like we used to have in the old days. The tutorials are pretty much explanatory enough, and if there is anything that is unclear you still have google.

I can't talk much about the mod tools since I do not know how well-documented they are currently, you should head down into the shogun 2 workshop if you want to know more about it.

It was actually M2TW I was thinking about. The Guilds are described in one small paragraph and since the feature is non-transparent this generated a gazillion questions on release. I gave my 13-yo nephew M2TW for X-mas and spend the rest of my holidays helping him to get started.

I can't comment on TWS2, but it does look like it's comprehensive. Was it included as a hard-copy?

I would like the a manual. But I only read them after I have played for a few days, to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I used to enjoy getting manuals for a bit of reading material for the installation.

Now that we have 20gb games though... Im gonna need a pretty big manual.

Aye, flicking through a pristine manual and inhaling its heady scent while waiting for the installation bar to creep slowly across the computer screen was always one of the highlights of buying a new game.

I like the hard-copy manuals as well. My gaming rig is set-up by a pro (not me) and that means that I can't tab-out to read an online manual.

I could never grasp the need of manuals for a game. The tutorial should be enough to get you started and after that you should have fun discovering things for yourself. What is the point of playing a new game if you learn to play it from a manual. Actually, WTF man, it is a game, not a class in school to be learned and then examined.

You are the new generation of TW gamers. You were born with the internet. Try buying a TW game as a gift to a young teenager who has no clue about the TW concept (strategy/battle) and who only knows about FPS (First Person Shooter) games. It's a steep learning curve for them.

Excuse me? I play TW games since Med2 came out but I soon switched to Rome because it was more to my liking! I was born with the internet? My first strategy game was Dune 2000 and that was soon followed by AoE - and I played those at a friend because I did not even have a PC when I was 11.
New generation my ass! It is just that I always learned how to play the game by playing the campaigns and discovering things for myself, I never needed a manual to teach it to me!

It will be a steep curve anyway because it's a different genre. Besides it's not like it's RTS, you have turns, you can reload, you can think...

You want a steep learning curve? Try playing Dune when the only thing you know in English is "How are you doing?"(Yes, from Joey.) and "You have beautiful eyes."

The definition of a steep learning curve comes from EVE Online - it's wall climbing with no safety mate Scamming and meta gaming is half of the game
