Default CA, Will the arrow trails be toggleable?

I've noticed one thing a lot of members are worried about are that the arrows seem to have becaome faux-lasers/stunt arrows with smoke trails from the back...Will we be able to turn this off in graphics options?

Hopefully it will be just a simple file edit. It happened within a couple of days of Shogun being out. I doubt it will be an option to turn it on/off. All projectiles have had white trails since Empire, the modders always seem to get rid of them. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thanks. I liked them in Shogun, but they seem too pronounced for my personal taste in R2, along with the tastes of many others it would seem.

They can probably removed by a little bit of text editing...and that will actually be one of the first things, I'll do.

I don't really like arrow trails.

I'm certainly getting rid of them. They really did look bad in the teutenberg video.

Maybe the next TW title is called Future Total War and therefore they wanted to test the look of lasers?^^
Anyway I'm getting rid of them, too.

I think I could put up with them, or if someone made a mod to make them a bit nicer looking even.

hope they can be removed, cause if your being ambushed and you see were the trails are coming from well whats the point of hiding units, i know you wont be able to tell how many units there are but still, should be optional

I personally like arrow trails (though i could live without), but those showed in the video are a bit too much. We have even pila trails
Disclaimer: the post above is way way prealpha, the final version will be way better than this.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

These fire arrows and the trails for the javelins are very ugly, the pila are too fast and the fire arrows look unrealistic.

Yeah, I thought the same about the pilum too. I noticed that outright the first time I viewed it. They don't even seem to have weight to them. I'm sure they will be fixed, or well added to, since this was just heavily scripted pre-alpha footage.

The arrows from the Carthage footage looked brilliant; I don't know who in the hell gave the order to implement... the Teutoberg crap.

Laser pila as well... and the speed at which they're thrown is the same as arrowfire..... ridiculous.

I'd really rather there was an option to toggle them. I like multiplayer so modding is really a last resort...

I don't think that they will be toggle-able,but hopefully CA has noticed the massive negative response about them and since they're currently correcting details they will fix it.

On the other hand,if they don't fix it,modders will just have one more thing to remember when creating a mod.

Personally,I don't like those missile trails at all.But we'll have to wait and see what happens.

I think that the flaming arrows look bad because the graphics settings were lowered in the demo. If you compare Varus' armor to Scipio's armor, it is obvious Scipio's armor textures are much more detailed. Maybe in order to show off the environment, they had to lower other settings that were not as important (textures, particles, etc) So I still have hope that the flaming arrows of Carthage are the ones CA will use
But the normal arrow and pila "condensation" trails have to be toned down.

Shogun 2 trails were fine. They only showed up when you were zoomed away from the arrows. When you got closer the trails disappeared.
