    Default Laptop for RTW2

Hi! I was just about buying a new laptop, and since RTW2 is coming out soon, I was thinking about getting one that can actually runs it. I was thinking about this one : http://configure.dell.com/dellstore/...=dhs&cs=cadhs1 I think it's pretty decent for the price, but the only thing that worries me is the graphic card (I really don't know a lot about thoses). What do you guys think? Do you think it will run it? Thanks.

I dont think a 700$ dell laptop could run rome 2 on low even if it's life depended on it but maybe someone more tech savvy can tell you more but I really dont think so...

I recommend Lenovo y480 with Intel core i7 and improve it to 8-16RAM and storage room 1000G. This laptop can easily run Shogun 2, ME3 ... so it should deal Rome 2 too.

    quosmio piece of crap?

and OP fill that questionnaire out, I can give you a 500 buck system that can run something, I can give you a 3k system that can outrun the chicken crossing the street, I can also get you a notebook that is heavier than your mama jokes or lighter than an anorexic model, or something that can last your grandkids life or something that it wont last the lifetime of a fly

    •3rd Gen Intel® Core™ i7-3632QM processor (6MB cache, up to 3.2Ghz)
    •Windows 8, 64-bit, English
    •8GB3 Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz
•1TB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive
    •Radeon™ HD 7730M 2GB
Well I'm no expert but I think that those specs are'nt that bad?? It might not be able to run it on ultra or high setting... but it should be able to run it on medium right??

Have you actually used this Laptop? It has installed one of the best graphic cards (ATI Radeon HD 8870M, most current laptops only have GeForce GT 650M) for notebooks, won several tests and has only very good reviews/recensions at amazon. Never heard anything bad about it yet. And it looks beautiful! Only the price is a little high. ~ 1300 €

But you are welcome to recommend me a better laptop, but in silver/aluminium please. I don't use plastic-black equipment.

Hey mate, I've tried the whole Laptop thing last year. Needless to say, I went back to gaming to my Desktop. Laptops throttle. The power it promises can never be hold due to their current architecture - they will become warm very quickly so the system clocks down automatically. That goes for every Laptop that gets too hot, no exceptions (!!!) bar >2000€ gaming Laptops.

A Laptop that is faster than a Desktop on paper will not be able to stay faster for more than 15 minutes with a game as demanding as the TW series. By the thumb rule I would estimate that my rig gives 50% of the power over time that it promised, while giving the full 100% for maybe 30 minutes (I have an additional, big fan cooler that stays underneath it). This only delays the inevitable, inner heat that cannot disperse!

Laptops are for work, Desktops for demanding gaming.

There is currently no way to mix that. Sorry mate. I highly suggest you learn from our experience and don't do the same mistakes. With our comments we merely want to help you. I hope you get a good Desktop PC (which is more cost effective anyway!) and a smaller, low-profile Laptop that is very cost effective for work. I recommend that you put an SSD of around 120GBs into an old Laptop and use an external HDD / Cloud in case you run out of space. But that SSD will really improve your working laptop amazingly.

For 800 bucks you can get a Desktop PC that is much faster than this Laptop.
For the remaining 200 you can get a proper Laptop with a good looking case and for 100 you can get an SSD. Or go with 300 for that more spiced up Laptop case.

That those Laptops win tests in performance does not mean they work with games. They do not. They will overheat and throttle down. Such scenarios are not considered in those tests. On paper and for a short while it may work but imagine running it 1 hour, or 2 hours.

I recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad y580 with an 3rd gen IntelCore i7-3630QM 2.30GHz 6MB Cache, 6gb RAM, and a GTX 660M 2GB with dx11. I run Shogun 2 on highest settings, and other graphically intense games like skyrim. I got it on sale for about 900. Not sure how much it is now. I would avoid buying Dells for gaming, but that is just me based on a personal experience.

here you can see which graphic cards can handle which game: http://www.notebookcheck.com/Welche-...g.13827.0.html

graphic card is very important, most laptops don't have a card that is good enough. Darth Ravens is on place 67 and can handle most current games on high settings, the Samsung Notebook Serie 7 Chronos 770Z7E graphic card is on place 53 and so even better. Besides, my 2 year old acer notebook could already handle Shogun 2 on high settings, so I guess we have nothing to fear.

it throttles. there is no argument here. there is whole thread about how it throttles on nbr

the asus U500/UX51 is the same thing

the only one on the that category that doesnt do it is the rmbp 15, but you cant upgrade the cpu, or guess what? it will throttle.
