Oh God, the ETW thread during its hayday made the Rome II thread look like daises and daffodils of friendship.

That's the main issue here - I note the sensible comments are from 'old timers' who have been through the great Empire disaster and the journey onwards. Those who experienced this and other issues with CA decisions are likely to be the ones trying to make decent points in the hope CA will - finally- fix stuff like diplomacy, which has been pretty abysmal in every game.

I agree with others who also (having been members here for years), mention the fact that the CA guys come here to 'engage' in the run up to releases - not so much in evidence when people can't get their game to run or the game has major issues like the infamous 'melee blob'.

Hopefully their early engagement here means they are trying to avoid that by noting what their most hard-core and long-term fans are saying about the new game as so far revealed, however some of the valid criticism's have been there game release after game release.

As to the OP - joining a community so you can apologise for Members of the community you couldn't be bothered to join until you wanted to apologise for them ? - such hubris ...

What !? PC games are 60 now ? Wait. Money conversion and regional price. I can assure you here where I live there is not a single PC game sold at 60. At release they are 54.99 then fall at 49.99 after the first month and 29.99 three/six months after release (except CoD titles who forever keep their release price).

    Oh, excuse me, $55.

But go on Steam and look at the release-day price of every game that is on par with Rome 2 in terms of anticipation. Games like Skyrim and Bioshock Infinite. $60

If you don't mind my asking: What are my views on the game and what about them are ridiculous?

Nevermind, then. I thought you quoted me and called me out in your post but I read it wrong.

No. I assure you there is not a single game at 60. Not only is the money different but the prices are different too. The Steam filial of my country wouldn't exist anymore if they sold games at 60 since they would be the only one of the market. Remember you are in an international forum. One single product like a video game is sold at different price and represent different value compare to other products.

I am propose to pre order Rome 2 at 54.99 euros on Steam. It represent 71.15 US dollars. One third more costly than you. One third. That's for the pure currency difference. So don't hold judgement on how people it the other corner of the Earth use their money and what they consider to be costly.

From my country since Steam is base on USD it shows USD 59.99 which is roughly about MYR 180.99.

Usually games that's is sold for USD 39.99 is being sold (retail) at MYR 149 so I expect the game to be sold around MYR 180.

I know I'll probably get shot down for this, but I really thought that someone needed to say this publicly. Creative Assembly is one of my favorite development studios, and I don't want to see them go the way of Bioware where fan backlash may have caused the founders to seek an early retirement. A perfectly legitimate choice following the amount of rude comments that they had to deal with. So to CA and especially to the employees who often post here, the majority of people here still do now how to be pleasant and do appreciate the amount of time and work you all put into the games that we love.

Remwr Welcome to the forums and great post, but sadly the community behaviour works both ways, there are those who are over pessimistic and those who are over optimistic. Now i like think im neither, buuuut i tend to lose my self to my over optimistic side . Oh and a high five to sharpe for posting this awesome song .

There are fanboys and there are hateboys.

The fanboys will say anything for CA just to justify and rationalized their investments of buying games from CA all these years, some if not all from the beginning of the series.

The hateboys will say anything against CA to justify and rationalized that there is always someone else fault for all the investments they have made all these years, some from the very beginning of the series by blaming CA/SEGA/the internet for making them spend they/their parents money and their time playing/complaining about something that they have themselves have chosen to do.

As long as the world still stand, these things will never stop.

If one CA staff member who was involved in making the campaign map spent one hour answering questions from modders over little problems e.g. what order do I have to change files, which data needs to be changed to do X etc then mod development would be fast forwarded 2 months. But wait... they don't.

Like an individual said in another thread if they can't take critiscm they shouldn't be in the game industry. I'm sure their big boys

This will be the most ideal situation. However that member one hour time could also practically be spend on building and fixing the game, which will brought out the game itself much sooner.

Whether one company is supporting or not supporting mod scenes it is not the job of game developers to teach people how to mod. Much like the company itself does not need to teach people how to develop games when they employ them. Basic knowledge must be learn by him/herself either professional game developer or modders alike.

Criticism is one thing. Insulting is another thing.

It makes me want to vomit when I read posts like this and see all the fanboy suck-up posts following a CA post.
They are here to sell games, not to be your buddy. If they can't cope with critisicm they should find another job.
Well everyone on this forum basically is a fanboy. How else can we explain many people here stay on and on after all these years.

In any case since this is not an official Total War forum the status presence here is as much as any other forumers. Yes they are here to help sell the game but they're also covered by the TOS the same as other posters. You can critique, complaint and probably insult their games if it merits that but not towards themselves no matter what badge they wear on their user name.

Some of the accusations are not even base on reality itself but base on the very wrong perception. In any case, who ever thinks is is within their right to criticize must also accept the fact they themselves must also be open the be criticize in return. Freedom of speech works both ways... as long as it did not break the forum TOS then all is fair and square.
