Default An Apology for the behavior of Certain Members of the Community

Seeing some posts recently made me finally take the step of getting an account just to reply to them. I would like to say to the Creative Assembly and all of the employees who use their time to help us by answering questions on the forums that not everyone on this site is both ungrateful and rude. It is a select minority that in my opinion has raised their ugly head too often in recent threads. I know I'll probably get shot down for this, but I really thought that someone needed to say this publicly. Creative Assembly is one of my favorite development studios, and I don't want to see them go the way of Bioware where fan backlash may have caused the founders to seek an early retirement. A perfectly legitimate choice following the amount of rude comments that they had to deal with. So to CA and especially to the employees who often post here, the majority of people here still do now how to be pleasant and do appreciate the amount of time and work you all put into the games that we love.

    Sincerely,
A Grateful member of the TW Community

I think many of us do really care, and I personally appreciate their work.

However some people on this community are just terrible.

    Awesome first post

Anyway I do agree with you, perhaps people can be a bit more constructive in their criticism.

I agree with your sentiments. A lot of people seem able to conjure up an unnatural level of vitriol for a games company. They're not really a legitimate target of such angry bitterness. Creative Assembly do not have control over our lives; they're not the government, they're not a local authority taking our taxes and squandering them; they're not an inefficiently-run health service putting our health at risk, or a bad school that is failing to provide our children with a supportive learning environment; they're not driving our countries to wreck and ruin, raiding our pensions, infringing on our democratic rights, altering our economic situations. They're a business employing people passionate about gaming that make a luxury product that you, the consumer, can choose to buy or not. And yet, still, we get a real outpouring of hatred for them at worst, and a grasping sense of God-given entitlement at best. First world problems, I guess.

Something that boggles my mind is that people can be so passionate about a game! Like seriously, its not the be all and end all of your life.

I've always wondered about people being so passionate about games. I agree with you Cresilia it seems as if games have a strong grip on peoples lives nowadays.

Criticism is always better when constructive. Offering ideas, suggestions and pros and cons in an effort to improve something should be commended, provided we remember that what we personally feel would improve the experience may not be to everyone's tastes. I do think people lose sight of that here sometimes. They expect the game to be crafted to their own unique specifications, but CA must build their own title, and we must decide if we wish to purchase it or not. It really is that simple.

Some people are just more passionate about some things than others. Some people are very passionate about sport, or film, or music. I don't see anything wrong with being passionate about something you care about, even if it's just a medium of entertainment. Of course, this is where some friction comes in, especially regarding issues such as modding or DLC. To some, it's a big deal. To others, it really doesn't matter to them at all and they couldn't care less.

Pretty much this. I don't make fun of people who get worked up about hockey, people who's happiness is literally dictated by who wins and who doesn't, so I expect the same from them, even if my passion happens to be a virtual re-enactment of historical warfare.

Criticism is fine, being passionate about something is fine.

But being passionate to the point where you act in a manner that is disruptive/destructive is not fine.

Ha ha. You sound like a Ayn Rand fanboy. We, the people, are the government. You want to look for the narrow, destructive interests, you'll find it in the private sector and their hired guns in government.

I agree 100% there are those who offer helpful criticism which is good then there are some which do nothing but complain which is annoying and lastly the ignorant/insulting people i.e. people who compare CA to EA

All this could be said about members treating other members here in TWC.

I agree. What I don't get is why people on this forum hang around and ***** about a game or company that they hate. Then they go and talk about the " good ol' days."
