Default 'Realistic Ancient Armies' (RAA) - modding project to Total War: Rome 2

    I plan interresting modding project.

    REALISTIC ANCIENT ARMIES
    (RAA)

Probably Rome 2 won't be moddable as Rome 1 or Medieval 2 (full mods - campaign, gameplay, engine, units etc. like Europa Barbarorum, Roma Surrectum, Rome Total Realism).
Probably mods will be similar to Napoleon o Shogun 2 - especially units skinpacks and graphic things, without moddable camapign.

    My idea is:

    - adding new units,
    - re-skins,
    - new statistics for units,
    - all units will be historical and realistic

I plan re-skin units, especially Hellenistic states which are badly than barbarians. But I will change barbarian, too if they won't be historical or realistic.

Now I don't write which units I will plan adding, re-skinning and changing, because we don't know what CA will change before release.
After release of Rome 2 I will post great plan of modding way.

Now it is a project in development.

In Empire we seen many mistakes of units. People say: ''it is a pre-alpha, it will be change'', but CA didn't change it. All pre-alpha units were in game.

In Napoleon we seen mistakes too, but CA will change most of them and we got realistic, various units.

In Rome 2 we see mistakes, but which way will try CA? Won't change as Empire? Or excellent change as Napoleon? I hope option 2.

I wrote that is is only project. We seen many mistakes in screens. If CA will change it I won't make this mod. Probably they will change some things but some won't change.

How are "no" and "I don't care" any different when it comes to the question "Are you interested in this mod project?"

And no, we have not seen the full roster and from my point of view the units we've seen are at least realistic. It's not like the Iceni have a unit of blue orcs.

Open your eyes, men. The game is finished and only minor things will change.
I am sorry, but they don't care about where we put plume into an helmet.

And do not blam them as we will have the more realistic units we've ever seen in a Total war vanilla game.

So, as in previous games, there will be a mod and it will correct those details.

We have to see the game, but seeing the units in the faction preview , seeing the Carthage & Teutobourg trailers I have not seen any big mistake on the units, yes there are some unhistorical units like the Punic sacred band equipped like oplites at Marathon, ort the Heroes of Sparta, or the Indian elephants in Carthage but the units look goods , very different from the garish units of RTW1 and we shouldn't forget that there will be 500 different land units (+ 200 naval units) in the game and I think this number was never reaches in any videogame in the gaming history !

Not really interested since we haven't actually seen much of the game. I may be interested in a mod that changes all the units names to their native language (kind of like in EB)

I vote for yes.. CA shows that they doesn't "know history", only using google images for making units...

It is completely no truth that this game will have the best units of TW.

Napoleon or Shogun 2 have too much better and realistic units.

In Napoleon all factions have historical uniforms and difference between styles. All units in those games were from correctly periods. We didn't see weird, not proven units like wardog, warpigs etc.

But Rome 2? Spartans from 5th century with rusty shields and many fantasy units like flaming pigs, wardogs, screaming women.
These units were only simple accidents, but never used in regulars armies. It is completely wrong that player can recruit armies of dogs, pigs and screaming women. Completely not histrically, not realistic.

It' s very easy to recreate uniforms and equipments of the XIX or XVI century, not the same for armies of 2000 years ago

So basically the "make Rome 2 less interesting mod"

Does it include a general -10 stats to all barbarians and complete removal of the Iceni too?

Sorry my friend. This time I am not with you. Since nothing has been seen of the actual game I see no reason to start a preetinve modding project to reskin and rework the armies. I am confident this time there will be not much to reskin and modify. You may think about adding more instead even if more than 500 unit types is something really big for the vanilla game. I don't know what modders will need to add.

Maleventum, there are thousends historical sources, books or pictures. In 21th century AD isn't a problem to see difference between hoplite from 5th century BC or hoplite from Hellenistic times. We know that wardogs, screaming women never used as regular units. They were only simple accidents in Roman history. Regular units are: legionaries, equites, velites, hoplites, hypaspists, hetairoi, phalangites, war elephants, cataphracts etc. but no wardogs, flaming pigs, Gremanic women etc.

If I recall correctly CA has tried to do it in the correct way eliminating usless and invented units. The wardogs can be fun but other units are useless like the german woman screaming.
I would wait a moment to see and then planning.
Maleventum said that it's easier to recreate uniforms that have been preserved in museums and for remembering. Unfortunately different is for thounsands of years ago were there was no concept of musem in the modern way of thinking nor the will to preserve.
