I'm fed up with all the DLC that you have to pay for these days.
There use to be a time where DLC were free and just updates now you even have to pay for new units which is a joke.
I think Rome 2 and other games should only charge there fans and people who have bought the game for big expansion packs like the old days
of barbarian invasion and alex.
Not to just unlock a faction, units or blood like in shogun 2

For a game that costs £44 which is a lot of money dlc should be free unless its something big then i do not mind paying for.

It should come with the original game already take this The Greek States Culture Pack it will all-ready be made when the game is out.
But if you do not pre order the game then you will have to pay to get this dlc so your telling me that we should pay for something that can be and is originally all-ready in the game?

The Greek states pack is a pre-order bonus incentive, another sound business tactic to improve sales. If you don't pre-order it (usually at a lower price) then you can have no complaints if you want these factions when the game comes out.

Uhhhh no? That would make sense if they had a Greek Cities trailer and then told you you had to pay for after you bought it. Its just a bonus for pre-ordering anyways. I don't understand why people are so against DLC anyways. The company spent the time making it and its their right to sell it. Were not entitled to anything either. None of the DLC civs were mentioned as the original 8 so its not like CA is reneging on their promises.

No, it's more like paying for the house being built, but the construction company also builds gazebos. I can pay extra to have the gazebo installed into my yard while my house is still being built. So that I will have it included, or I can just choose not to have it. Though, I know that gazebo should have been in my yard in the first place, so I really don't see the justification in charging me for it, that is just robbery!

They have a team working on the main game, the game is complete. Just because they have extra teams on the side working on other projects (DLC) while the main game is being finished does NOT make the game incomplete.

The pre-order bonus for Rome II and the "Free-LC" are NOT cut from the original game. Common misconception it seems.

How is it like that at all? CA have clearly said what you are buying. 9 Factions. If you want more you have to pay, or pre-order. You're not buying the Gazebo, it was never part of the original sale. When you buy a house you often pay extra for fixtures and fittings (curtains, carpet, lights, sheds, appliances), however unlike houses games will soon be discounted so simply wait until you can get all the content at a price you are willing to pay. What’s so hard about that?


CA make and sell a product. They decide what that product is and they are under no obligation to include everything they have worked on up to release date. Obviously it makes good business sense for them to make the product offer as much value for money as possible.

No issue with people being paid for their work, however being paid more than once for the same work i do have issue with, we are not talking about extra work here we are talking about content within the game itself being deliberately locked out unless you pay extra to unlock it, now if Sega lowered the price of the game to compensate for locking content then i would say okay but they don't, £45 is being charged on steam therefore they are charging the same/more for less, that isn't acceptable in my opinion.
