Just back and browsing and read the "Rome II won't be moddable (propably right)"!
Is this likely to be true?
Please tell me the information is as bad as the spelling.

CA can *explicit comment here* if the game isn't easily modable.
The only thing that makes TW games great are the mods. The games themselves are usually pretty weak, buggy, historically inaccurate, and easy to game.
In the original rome 2 for example, all you needed to do was make an army of crappy roman cavalry, and run straight into the barbarian hordes for an instant overrun victory.
We won't even talk about head throwers, war dogs, and the British chariots.
"When I die, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like Fidel Castro, not screaming in terror, like his victims."
My shameful truth.
Thank the Gods I didn't preorder yet.
My utmost sympathies to those who did.
I will not be a slave but a free gamer.
Thanks and bye bye CA. We had fun, but GG and no Re.
Your post is utterly confusing.
If you intend to buy the game sometime why not just pre-order from amazon. You dont pay until 2 days before it is shipped. If you dont have money well that is why you havnt preordered. Secondly, the game will be moddable on the same level as Shogun II and modders have just unlocked how to add new regions and factions to Shogun II so eventually we will be able to add more regions to Rome II. So get a grip man. Not pre-ordering costs you money because you get those 3 factions free for preordering. But if you want to pay - so be it.
anyone still knows how long it took for making an all playable clan mod for shogun 2?
so i can play with the seleucids.
Veritas Temporis Filia
What is wrong with you? Sympathy for those who did pre-order? You do realise almost everyone pre-orders for the base game not for the potential to play mods *rolls eyes*
One last thing dont use gg in this context it is becoming far over used by gamers for things it isnt relevant to (you do know gg means good game right?)
Also one last thing dont be so dramatic! "I will not be a slave but a free gamer" good god you make me feel sick

And uh... Where did you get this information?![]()
It's modable on the level of Shogun 2.
I was once an Angel of Total War Heaven, but gave up my wings for a life on the sea of battle.
It's modable on the level of Shogun 2.
Ah...
Isn't this enough...?
Also our great modders have always learned to fight back, even modding some of the worst titles CA has released.
Not quite. Rome and Medieval 2 were both very moddable, a fact that has contributed greatly to their longevity. Empire, Napoleon, and Shogun are, sadly, quite a bit different in this regard. Unlike companies such as Firaxis (amongst others), CA gives little thought to the community.
Do you have any idea how hard mod tools are to make or long it takes to make them? Obviously not. You cannot always compare companies or games. Different games run on different engines. Different engines are either moddable or not so moddable/unmoddable. CA can't wave a magic wand and have mod tools ready to go. Time and money go into making those tools. Then they give them away. Even when they did their best (debatable) to give mod tools for TWS2 people complained about complexity or that it wasn't to their liking.
The game isn't mod resistant. CA has never intentionally hampered modding of their games. Some aspects of the game are hardcoded (just like aspects of pre-Warscape games) but the game is not mod resistant. There are total overhaul mods for NTW. the games are certainly more complex to mod but that's due to complex code not intentional tampering.

This is one reason CA has little reason to give out comprehensive modding tools, people see some stat changes and different colors and think "WOW! this mod is so great and different then the original game!!" It's not final yet but CA has given no reason for us to think that this game will be any more modable then the last few titles (i.e, pretty much not at all)

To the OP
The game hasn't even come out yet and you're making rash presumptions?
My apologies, mate.
I misread your opening post, and I am sorry for snapping at you.
I'm just so very tired of these rash presumptions from people; all of the nitpicking and all around hostile attitudes towards CA before the game has even been launched.
It get inquiries and I get asking questions, but when people automatically assume the worst after seeing nothing or very little of the game, it just bugs me to no end.
