Default TWR2 - Get your hopes up

    It's going to be insane.

Look at this picture. THESE ARE SPARTANS. L33t SEXY SPARTANS.

    Erhmegehrd Berzerkers.

    Dat formation.

    Dem helmets.

I honestly feel this game is going to special. Come September 3rd we can stop wading through the mire that is this sub-forum and enjoy.

I have been waiting for a sequel to Rome 2 for too long and am not going to let anyone discourage me.

    Let's do this!

Don't get me wrong - I am a history undergraduate and love the subject and study, but you have to draw a line between work and pleasure.

I look at videos like this and just think of all the epic moments we are going to be able to create on Rome 2. Oh my days.

We need heroes of Sparta and their kin!

No joke I am going to watch 300, Troy, Gladiator, Spartacus so many times in the run up to release waaaaa

To each his line, dear Sharpe. I have no problem with people that kill barbarians with Arcani Ninjas, or roast them with the aid of flaming pigs, but you could not possible dictate where I, draw the line. Maybe I have different views on what constitutes the necessary level of immersion for me to have fun with a game. Maybe I want the right copper greaves, or simply not to have CTDs. We are all individuals right?

Thanks god we don't live in a communist state or something where everyone has to use Screeching Druids or Spartan Heroes.

    Of course.

As I said in the other thread the perception of what constitutes fun/enjoyment is subjective. Might be just me but I tend to switch off when playing games and just enjoy it for it's own merits - maybe I'm too easily pleased? Not a bad thing I suppose.

If not we will likely have to try to survive until E3... that is if this forum can keep it together for the next 3 weeks, lol.
This isn't a troll thread (much ) It's just the paradox of it's twin.

    We can do this.

Of course not a bad thing. But again, come to think of it, when you play HOI3 or M2TW, you are a person that veers to the concept of alternative History, right? You do not fiddle with settings, and governors and population happiness just because you get to slaughter some hapless beautifully rendered pixels in the Germanic wilderness. Remember where you get angry because a long term ally assassinates your best General and declares war to you on the same turn?

We do roleplay, either explicitly or implicitly and the TW series is more conductive to that then say, WoW, and the historic basis is, I guess, the reason.

That said, I agree that there is a great deal of subjectivity here, that only personal modding, or dowloading ready mods, could address.

based on the recent quality of threads I reckon CA better give some new info quick or
this'll become a genuine Battle Royal solving the following burning questions:
"Who is the smartest man on this forum" and "Who is the funniest gnome in the basement"?

    *Cringe*

I get that you're enthused, and hell I even envy that feeling. But games these days are rarely a knockout, and for many of us who've been let down by lack luster releases it's simply hard to be overly excited about a title... there's nothing wrong with being excited about this game however for many of you anyone who raises a concern is immediately looked down upon or labeled a troll; when in reality it's just a jaded soul expressing his concern.

Just let us be jaded man, and we'll let you be ecstatic.

Did half of this forum despise Shogun 2 or something? I loved Shogun 2 and will definitely enjoy Rome 2 even more.

Why does it seem like the majority of this forum hates CA and the TW series?

Well done. I remember when I saw your posts in the Iceni reveal thread, you were trolling people with British superiority and such, and I was like "WTF is this dude?", not sure if serious and all. Since then I've got my answer, obviously

More on topic, I can't help but have high expectations. Antiquity is the best setting ever for a TW, a time of faction diversity, huge empires, ruthless barbarians, even more ruthless "civilized" people, and epic battles. Shogun 2 was a success, but here the scope is more ambitious so, there's a risk of being disappointed - but that's life. It's still less ambitious than Empire, so I'm still confident in CA to get this one right.

Approaching the fora with a light heart makes your time here far more enjoyable, there is a time for balls to the wall seriousness and there is a time for lols.

I am expecting a lot of CA - I'm not going to eat their crap, but I am confident they can produce the goods. I have pretty much stopped playing games all together now (time constraints and plain boredom with them) with a few exceptions and Total War is one of them.

You're such a lad Sharpe, well played sir, well played.

    Archbishop of Banterbury.

The more time passes before interesting news is shared with us so we actually have some content to discuss, the more I think I'll just have to commit my time here to trolling the pessimists.
Quiet Sunday night - have to do something.
