Default I would like a renaissance game

I think that there could be a good market for a game called Renaissance Total War. It could cover either the period 1500 to 1600 or else more broadly the period from 1450 to 1650.

It would open in the era of the medieval knight, but with the presence of large clumsy siege guns, and Switzerland and Burgundy would be important countries militarily. After a while, factions should be able to recruit landsknecht type troops, and there should be an emphasis on the use of mercenaries. The later stages of the game should allow for the reforms of Gustavus Adolphus.

I agree, this is such an untouched period and I reckon CA could depict it really well. A whole lot more of the Aztecs etc could be seen aswell

A Late Medieval/Early Modern game would be very nice indeed. We'd finally see combined-arms units.

I do like the idea of a game set between Medieval and Empire. Another twist: it would coincide with the Sengoku and early Tokugawa eras in Japan (although a Total War: Renaissance game would necessarily have a less detailed portrayal of Japan than Shogun). So if Japan were a faction, naginata samurai, matchlock ashigaru, and other Shogun units might make an appearance.

Not sure of Asia but Renaissance Europe would sound like a must-buy game to me. Protestant reforms, Ottomans, Swedish Empire, 30-Years-War, Spanish Armanda... etc etc. Lots of events to go through.

One thing I would like in a future game, not necessarily of this era, is the ability to give money to a rebel unit.

Think of ETW. I'm playing as United Provinces, and France captures the Rhineland, destroying Westphalia as a faction. There is then a rebellion in that region. I cannot give money to the rebel force, but I would like to have that option.
