    Default Rome 2 PC Build

Hello Im looking to building or buying a new PC my budget is $800-$1000 but 800 is my comfort price if anyone could suggest a build around that price range with all the requirements for Rome 2 that would be greatly appreciated.

    True....

Do NOT buy a PSU with 900-1200W. That would make you an idiot. I bought a 700w PSU 3 years ago for a system with a AMD6850, and woe is me, because that would only have needed a 500w max. GTX670/680/AMD7970 in SLI/CrossFire will only need a 750w PSU.

    anyways regarding the topic

In order to run all maxxed out without lags you need to go a bit over the max requirements

    Id recommend the following

    Cpu: i5 3570k
    Ram: 8/16 gb 1600mhz capable
GPU: EVGA gtx 670 2gb ftw sig2 x2 sli ( great scaling for ETW/NTW/S2TW/R2TW engine ( dont go for fancy titan, more expensive, worse performance )
    MB: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3
    PSU: ~950-1200w
+ optinal SSD, 120gb should be more then enought to install your fav games to run fast and smooth

some cooling and ofc a case with it's side open = less temps/dust

this is way too much. Around 600-700W are enough, even if he wants to overclock 950-1200 are still unnecessary.

Clock the 3570K to 4.6 and you have a 4770k on steroids.

for price check you local store, i pretty much gave you what will run the game perfectly smooth maxxed out, it's up to you to decide the details.

Video card is better to take Radeon HD 7970
No it isn't. First of all you would need two of those, which already makes it more expensive, secondly CA is famous for its ATI un-optimisation. They still didn't fix NTW lag on ATI.

And sorry my bad didn't write sli. Still even if 1 video card, i'd personally pick Nvidia over Ati.

Sorry didnt write SLI in the config i wrote, for 1 card absolutelly, for 2 it would need more.

How come you need 2 of those (7970) when one 7970 is 'cold' already faster then a 670 and with the recent driver optimalisations faster then a 680 (not even counting the GHZ edition of the 7970 or kinds like DCIIT and the MSI Lightnings). Compared to the 670 (and the 680) you could say the 7970 has more vram for future titles or higher resolutions and when OC'ed the 7970 will even harder to beat by the 670 and 680. I'm not trying to get an argument here, I couldn't care less which one is better, but it would be nice to stay to the facts.

We will see with the arrival of the new 700-series how it will develop (+/- 20% faster then the current 600-series).

It is btw true TW is more or less optimalised for Nvidia-cards (syntethic benchmarks prove it), personally I never notice it because I never go under 60FPS with my DCIIT 7970 and experience no microstuttering

    Haswell:
Latest benchmarks unfortunatelly show no real big improvements compared to Ivy bridge.
The biggest improvements are an improved iGPU (GPU which is part of the CPU, but since you will use
a dedicated GPU it is useless) and low energy use. Still I'm also going for a 4770k, just for the fun of it,
when it comes out, but if it's worth it I doubt it.
The most recent benchmarks show an increase of between 2-4%. If that is worth the extra $ you may
    decide for yourselves

The current CPU I got (i7 3770k) already easily does the trick and with more or less the same
    calculatingspeed.

But back to you; you can easily get a i5 3570 with z77 mobo and save the rest of your money for a decent SSD (Samsung Pro?)
The list c.ryo created in his first post seems more then decent enough for playing RII: TW. His suggested PSU seems a bit to
overpowdered, a good quality PSU with 650-750W is more then enough. I have a Corsair AX860i and it is overkill for my current
system. I bought it to upgrade to sli or crossfire anytime soon.

Will the gtx 580 still be good enough to play it on very high with most things on max? I know its far above recommended specs but CA diddnt say anything about max specs.

I've had a GTX 580 since Aug last year, it runs most high end games just fine. As for running TW:R2 at max settings it's possible but playing Shogun 2 maxed out certainly struggles and lags a little.
