If the campaign map is going further east than the map of Rome 1, can someone explain what that potentially means? What was historically east? Are their any new potential factions or units?

Never played Rome 1. Don't care. Map still looks tiny to me.
Scoodlypooper Numero Uno
Larger than shogun
Mainly just the eastern half of the Seleucid Empire. Along with Parthia in it's more historically correct starting position.(As opposed to starting in western Iran in Rome I) Other than that we'll potentially see the Greco-Indian Kingdom of Bactria in modern Afghanistan.(Which will be unlocked as a DLC faction in the future I have no doubt)
If you really that curious you might wanna look up Bactria, Seleucid Empire, or Mauryan Empire in Wikipedia and see where that takes you!![]()

Under the patronage of Basileos Leandros I
It can show a larger more historical accurate Seleucid Empire. And a more correct starting position of Parthia. The rest is only speculation so far.
I think that a Greco-Bactrian faction is a given. And maybe we will see the Sakas (Iranian steppe nomads) or Khwarezm (settled Iranians). Provinces owned by an Indian faction (Mauryas) will most likely be missing as the map will (unlike some mods) not touch the Indus river. From screenshots it seems that Arachosia will be the easternmost province.
With this new expanded Campaign map in Rome 2 , We will have :
Factions which now have correct/realistic starting position :
- Arche Seleukeia ( Seleucids ) ; Now will have their eastern half of their empire which was missed in Rome 1.
- Pahlava ( Parthia ) ; Now will start the game in their correct historical position which is North Eastern part of Iran (Unlike in Rome 1 which located in western part of Iran)
- Saka ( Scythians ) ; Would have their historical regions this time.
Factions that can be added due to the extended map :
- Any Faction in Arabian Peninsula ( Like Saba )
- Baktria ( Greco-Bactrian Kingdom ) ; Which was a satrapy of Seleucid empire at the time.
- Sauromatae ( Sarmatians ) ; These guys could be even included in Rome 1 but looks like CA thought a British Faction is more important ! Hopefully We will see them in Rome 2 (?)
From the map shown in the deluxe edition pic, it seems a perfectly reasonable eastern frontier for a game centered around the Mediterranean sphere of influence.
