Best factions for co-op?

What do you think are the best factions to play as with co-op?
Greek states seem to be the obvious choice but I was wondering if there were historical reasons why two cultures would work together, or even if you think there would be fun gameplay reasons for two different cultures that wouldn't feel too overpowered.

Rome and Carthage.
Egypt and Carthage.
Any of the barbarian civs together.

I agree with ptoss1. Maybe Sparta and Macedon as Sparta will most likely get destroyed early but will probably have a powerful unit roster.

Suebi and Iceni. Iceni, comes from the British isles with a land invasion against the Arverni. Suebi invade from the east with there berserkers and boom one faction eliminated already.

either or. I think it would just be more fun if both people had different cultures and tech trees to play from.

Rome and carthage would just be too much, I think.

Nah.

Carthage can take Egypt.
Rome takes everything north.
Afterwards they can both head east and destroy everything.

I was thinking they would fight from the get go. why would I play with a human faction? I am damn well going to play against him.
much more interesting that way, maybe a 15 or 25 year rule of temporary truce and then the epic struggle!
