Thread: How to add a new faction and modify existing ones

Quick one - does the change in banners and uniforms also affect province boundary colours? I'm looking to change the ROTS Fujiwara green to something less scary and maybe redo other playables as well. Thanks for the awesome tutorial on banners, halfway done but not sure how to change province outline to another colour?

Also - DDS files can also be modified in paint.net which is free http://download-paint.net/

is because i dont use the english version of the game, perhaps i have to edit the names in the text-files used for gaming in my language.can it be?
and last but not least : can i give all provinces an additional slot to build an additional building in this province?

and: i hope all of these things are possible WITH using your Expanded Japan Mod at same time.
    can you help me?
    2) This is impossible to do correctly without using 3D Max as you won't be able to remaking the pathfinding.esf. If you don't mind it being impossible to attack this town you add a new town to a province through text editing. Here is a guide for ETW which will explain the pretty much everything you need to do.

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...e-campaign-map

    3) The non-English version used a different version of the localisation file, so you'll probably need to add these names manually. Also if you want to change the starting names of a character you have to edit this character in the startpos DB tables.

    4) Provinces cannot be given an extra building slot. They're limited to one settlement, town, farm, and port per province.

I can upload the DB tables I edited. This will allow you to edit the startpos so factions start with more units.

The colour of the province's outline is controlled by the colour in the "Factions" DB table, so this is the DB table you need to edit.

This is remotely related to the topics... I tried to make rebel spawns certain type of unit (plan is to create unique rebel unit), but they keep spawn the normal unit set. I remove all unwanted units from faction_rebellion_unit_junction_table, unit_to_exclusive_permission_table, unit_to_grouping_military_permission_table, but that didn't work as well.

I would like to add boshin geishas to the shogun 2 campaign but no idea how to do it and looks like that you are the only one that were able to add agents. I basicaly want the economics skills of them. If you can give me a hand it will be great

I'd also like to know about adding new agents. I wanted to make a brand new one with the ability to train troops like the foreign veterans from FOTS

I've made new agents for Korea in Morning Sun so I can write a guide explaining how to make unique agents.

I need to point out that you can only modify the existing agents. If you make a new agent it won't be recruitable because I don't know how to assign agents to regions in the startpos. So you can turn the geisha into the boshin geisha but you can't have the geisha and boshin geisha in the same campaign.

    - Create a new agent
    - Add all the appropriate effects tables
    - Create a new building chain that is tied to a single province (undestroyable)
    - Add the agent availability and agent cap effects of your new agent to that new building chain via building_effects and building_factionwide_effects table

Well to be honest with being able to transform the shogun geisha into the boshin geisha would be more than enought for me. I would really appreciate if you could help teach me how.

How do you create a building chain that is tied to a single province? Do you mean edit the startpos_settlements and add this building to a settlement?

I tried doing something similar but the recruit agent icon didn't appear in the settlement.

Exactly. The first level of that new building chain should be indestructable.

Did you add all the required agent effects and abilities? It's difficult to keep track of all the necessary tables.

Have you actually gotten this to work? If so can you upload a mod with a new agents. While the building shows this agent is recruitable I can't recruit it because there's no agent card to select.

I've added a Republican agent to the game, but I've never played that far into a campaign. Currently, I'm rebuilding my mod. When I manage to get the campaign part working again, I'll test it.
