Thank you for the additional info Perifanos, you're the Archon in my book, as long as you can back up your knowledge with your spear and tactics! We'll find out when the game launches. Either way, we're going to need to do some co-op campaigns against Rome!

As for the machaira kopis, I hope it will be ingame. It's going to be an epic match up to see phalanxed Spartans with Dory, Xiphoi, Hoplon vs Legionnares in shield wall formation.

Annihilating the Romans to the last man always gave me a huge pleasure in any RTW mod or the vanilla game.I don't know why,but I love crushing them.
You probably back the underdogs in competition - like me - because Rome are the favored army in most engagements. Although I think this is largely due to Romans having a the element of surprise when they show up to a nation who never seen them before, and just smash them with Legions, leaving the unsuspecting nation unable to mount a well prepared and organized resistance. Of course this wasn't always the case, but it seems to be a common trend as the Romans moved into new lands. We Greeks will be prepared this time around though

Thespians in Black Armor are amazing, but I'm still going with the superior gold and red Spartans. Although, once saw those Athenian Marines, they became a close favorite. Ancient Naval combat is the only form of it that I really love - muskets and cannon just ruined warfare.

The units we've seen so far are super generic and that's discouraging.
Well, we haven't seen much units, and they already said there's going to be a huge variety of the, so I still have hope. It's going to hard to imagine Athens, being Naval focused, not having Athenoi Epivatai units. I doubt they wouldn't give them a unique Marine unit to use on ships, but they've made worse mistakes in the past. Let's just say, if they do give them Marines, and they look close to the pics I posted, my partner can go Sparta, and I'll go Athens for the first co-op campaign

    Haha, check this out.

I'm using the Sicilian expedition and reversing the route to attack Rome!

Hey TC can you make sure to jump on a mod team dedicated to developing more unique faction unit rosters once the game comes out?

    Because I would install that.

Very interesting list, I'd love to see what you could do with Aetoalian League, Achean League and Syracuse, even though they may not be playable or even in the game.

Just finished reading the OP. These descriptions are very informative, they should be implemented in any future Rome 2 mods geared toward historical accuracy! Nice job!

    Thank you!!!

I'd love to be part of a Rome 2 modding team working on historical accuracy. But no such team has approached me so far and I don't know how to mod myself. So unless a modding team asks me to participate I won't be able to do that.Sorry...

Aitolia belongs to Epirus and Achaea to Sparta,so the leagues probably won't be in.But some nice updates come for the lists, including Achaean units,so keep an eye.
