CA's Varus and Arminius

Why the CA team has decided to portray those two figures in this way:

Varus

Ugly , small , coward and with a cup as helmet

Arminius

Handsome, tall, cool , with fantasyzed cool facemask and proud

?

I am trying hard to remember descriptions but none come to my mind that correspond to that depiction.

I think Varus' less than stellar historical reputation did for him in this regard. Tactus is quite brutal in espousing the virtue of the noble Savage (here played by Arminius) over the cruely of the imperialist aggressor.

Remember only their greed, their cruelty, their pride. Is anything left for us but to retain our freedom or to die before we are enslaved?

It's because CA is staffed by Roman-hating descendants of Barbaric Germanics. They sympathize with the Barbarians and will focus them instead of the glorious civilization of Rome. They will stop at nothing to tarnish the image of Rome. If you need proof, look at their depiction of the legionaries, they made them normal! Just look at them - ill-fitting helmets, goofy, dumb-looking faces, as if these are not the warriors that conquered the greatest empire the world has ever seen, but some peasants! In comparison, the Germans are depicted as manly, strong, with heavy-muscled bodies and strong facial features(and the "Blue Steel" look).

I don't have much to add to your conclusion about this further useless thread, except that i don't find Armenius that great as the ingame version. The more wild warrior we saw on the Artwork of the PC Gamer ect. who was titled as Arminius was much more plausible and unique.

In the teutoburg trailer i thought they just gave him this stupid silvermask because it was found one in Kalkriese and that it was believed that the cavalry was using them.

It has to look with portray differences used by CA ...



Just check by yourself ...

Surely you can notice the Huge differences in detailing and the effort spent in making the two leaders ...

Come on even the Greaves look like plain monochromatic plaster while on Arminius you can even see the knotwork of the Pelt and the cool ( roman ) facemask that was added on him just to make it look cooler ..
While on the Poor Varus , apart the crappy work of the model itself , was gived outdated gear and not even detailed one ..

To me seems that the artists were different and one was very inspired ( arminius ) the other was forced ( Varus ) ...

Nope , if you watch the wholetrailer in the end , when Varus kills Arminius , dont think this ever happened as well, the model of Arminius is the same ... The one of Varus is just crap compared to the other.
