So I'm curious. For me this is a real important part of the game. As it told me who my first campaign and even a few after were. So vote your favourite and tell me your least favourite.

Personally I liked the layout of Shogun 2 most. Having all the flags there in front of you and being able to see your clan leader all sound pretty neat additions in Rome. The one I hated most was Empire. Having to scroll through the faction selections was all kind of annoying. I didn't really feel bothered to look through the descriptions either. Bad background music I blame for that too!

Just to be awkward - Medieval 1.

I like the fact it told you what units you started with and the estimated difficulty.

    Agreed.
What I also loved about MTW was the previous menu screen where you selected the era. You had a perfect overview of all the factions starting position.
Same in Shogun1. But this was sadly lost in the following games starting with Rome (together with the multiple campaign starting dates). Now you only see the provinces hold by selecting the specific factions one by one.

Never played Med 1, but seems more charming than ones I've seen (Napoleon lacks). If I have to pick one of the poll, it's Empire.

I definitly like the Shogun 2 layout the best. I think implementing a similar style in Rome 2 would be good as it would allow people to get a much better understanding of their faction.

the only thing that really ever lagged for me in shogun was the menu, i would prefer something more simple like rome or medieval 2

Interesting to see the difference of opinions. I'm surprised Medieval has votes, I found that menu to be 'taxky'.

My apologies for not involving the 1st gen Total War games, I should of.

No. It was the best. Even the unit cards were good. Shogun 2 has the best layout for everything. Went back to Napoleon and felt disgusted.

we are talking about fall of the samurai not shogun 2.

FOTS had lots of Grey colors, units ui looked almost the same. the menu was the pinnacle of horrible, that god awful yellow for every territory marker, that ugly flag sticking out. it was one of the worst UI and menu map pieces I have ever seen.

    Shogun 2 however was beautiful.

That may seem intimidating if you make someone play from that point on but if you play into that from lvl1 you will know every single thing that is on that screen like the back of your palm - and I am sure you know it's true!
