Default No one else thinks this game is being rushed?

Only three month's to go now and i guess even writing this thread is a huge waste of time but i feel pretty let down by everything so far.I cannot be the only one who is thinking hold on...three months yet i know about as much about this game as i do from a game still a year off release! And from what i have saw it looks like it has been semi rushed. And i know a few fanboys with low IQ are going to say "well it just left alpha two weeks ago" but they are deluded. It is not even the big what if about the massive bits of the game (campaign and multiplayer) but even the small bits we have seen have been a complete fail so far considering this is meant to be the biggest most epic totalwar ever.

Unit speeds and morale looked all wrong going against all the feedback given from previous games yet the only thing that came our way was an arrogant response which consisted of ( The units do move slower than Shogun 2) which is hardly what we wanted to hear? We wanted to hear you say "we will slow things down this time we promise" or "guys here is some gameplay footage of two units fighting 1v1 so u can see how things work out now".

I am just going to use minor things as an example and so i am not here for hours ( which i easily could do as there are many more things i dislike and from suggestions there are many things probably never going to make it into the game like orderly retreat and building hadrians wall and a more minimal UI)

    Example 1 Units of Rome/Macedon
Incredibly skinny legs and bodies on the units making them look like peasants and not professional troops who walk miles per day and are drilled daily.
Skin color of english northern europeans on roman troops.
Weird victorian era voices used on roman troops ( posh melee infantry?!?!)

    Example 2 Cities
There is basically nothing going on in them since ten years ago. When u go into a city it seems like a complete ghost town. There are no peasants running around in a panic or people trying to escape the seige. No real evidence exists that some of them are home to maybe a hundred thousand people.I dont remember ever seeing lights on or fires in the cities at night making them look cosy and as if people actually live there.Small things like abandoned carts and horses. Anything just to add some realism to it.And before anyone says anything about additional things for the graphics card to render i say that all these things can be scaled down dynamically if the troop count is below 5000.

Personally i think its not been long enough since Fall of the Samurai and that the game is being rushed.A 3rd December release date would make this game so much better.Even worse is people are actually super excited by the Sept 3rd release date.As a child i was always taught good things come to those that wait.

Honestly if the game is as good as Shogun 2 in a European setting with more unit variety then I'm ok.
    Not expecting too much.

The things I'm looking forward to are the faction specific tech trees, the politics, and maybe the buildings and stuff.
Faction specific tech trees sound way too good to be true, so at most I'm expecting culture specific techs instead of faction, but if CA does implement unique trees for each faction then my mind will be blown.
Politics should make the game because otherwise it'll just be boring. Still I have no idea how it'll work. I mean if your family loses power, is the game over? Or if other families gain power does that mean rebels rise up? See, no idea.
I'm fine with battles as they are. Graphics are meh since only beast rigs can run on highest settings anyway. More concerned about actual strategy and stuff.

I agree with everything you said mate.I just dont agree on the bit about it being as good as a European Shogun 2 as they have had the biggest budget on any Totalwar game ever.A point to prove from Empire that they do not rush games anymore and the sheer fact that even a re skin of shogun two in roman uniforms would be half decent once the morale is modded.

But they have had potentially two years to build on that if they were indeed working on FOTS and Rome II at the same time.Yet of all the things you have said i have heard nothing at all.Things are WAY too quit and it freaks me out.How hard can it be to show things off and promote the game? Its not as if the artists have to show us the game themselves. It just makes me fear they have something to hide.

Maybe its Empire syndrome who knows...

If you are really getting mad over things like this not making it into the game. Then you're a bit selfish and a bit of a crybaby.
    It's the way it is.
And the more you truly believe small things YOU want are going to be in the game, the more upset and disappointed you're going to be when the game comes out.
Probably the most idiotic post i have seen in a while here apart from the GIF spamming. It will accomplish what exactly? It wont improve the game all you are trying to do is get a rise out of me when u cannot even understand my post.Pull your head out of your backside please and never ever post in one of my threads again thanks.

Or, like most other developers this time of year, they're saving the good stuff for E3.
btw the morale has been increased from what it was in S2.

We've heard no less than we have for previous total war games. There's been a few video previews, interviews with various publications, dev chat on here, and the rally point videos. The last one of course is brand new, so we've actually got a little more from CA in a monthly (enough) video. The real promotion will come in the next couple of months before release, as is normal for all games, and indeed media in general. Plenty of time to give us more meatier details before release.

The argument here is that CA has been too busy making the game to show us anything.
I don't believe that bollocks, but it might be true.

If you'd actually search both this forum and the official TW forums you'd know that all videos and screenshots are pre-alpha/alpha and that units speeds are being slowed to around what NTW had.

Morale and other things related to the videos we've seen have been deliberately set up so that the narrator would have an easier time fighting battles.

It's really hard to have civilians running around during a battle. It'd be hard to script the game so that soldiers recognize the civilians as enemies/targets instead of just road blocks. City view might have made a return but we don't know.

    A good little read:

It's all economics, there's no market for the features you want to be implented.

Jeez I've studied too much for my finals.

Soon we're going to have some proper videos showing the entire game. So once we can see those in more detail, I don't think anyone can say if this game is rushed or not; we will know soon enough whether it is or isn't. But if you think your reasoning for this game for being rushed are good reasons, then I think you are going to be really disappointed with any Total War game from now on, because your expectations are unrealistic and ridiculous.

This alone . I do agree that the posh English voices for Romans is out of place, but it's following the same portrayal of Romans have had in popular media - except maybe "Passion of the Christ". It sucks we can't get some latin spoken, or more believable accents, but it obviously isn't going to happen, and it's not a game breaking issue for me.

Latin ? How many voice actors are there who are prepared to voice act Latin? Since no one knows what romans sounded like, what could be a believable accent?

I don't think it will be rushed, CA did a fine job with Shogun 2 so I expect them to honour their most popular (arguably) game in the series.

That was what i thought, but the more i see about Rome 2... i don't know, i have a feeling that Shogun 2 footage got me a lot more awed. Still waiting to see the game in action in some more final builds.

Well 3 years ago i might have agreed with the OP.

But after the success of Shogun 2 and it's expansions. SEGA has put more money and resources into Creative Assembly's coffers. *Also add the fact, that several SEGA games failed to sale, while Total War became the most sold game in Steam at some point, and still is in the top 10. So SEGA is more focused than ever on Total War. So much they are into strategy genre, that they bought Relic.*

A side effect of getting more money, means getting more staff. I don't know any proper numbers. But i am going to assume the number of people working at CA was like 200-300 people at most. I am sure that now they easily have double or triple the amount of people working with them. That means faster development times.

I think these guys have a point though, things are unusually quiet on the CA's side.

The game will be released in three months, and there should be a beta out by now, but we barely even have any visuals from the game itself.

Two 10 minute videos that are supposedly in pre-alpha, while there should be half a dozen trailers filled with gameplay out by now, as well as previews of the campaign and all the new content.

Instead, we have gotten nothing. This is I think, because the CA is very far behind, despite their big budget. Because of this I hope the game gets delayed, I'd rather play a good Rome II in December than a rushed one in September.

So, basically, your expectations for revealed content haven't been met yet? I hope you know that almost all TW games have had similar amounts of info released. Even this level of dialogue between the fans and the game developers is rare. Most companies don't do it.
