    Default Cousins Dayne at Blackmont

Lenora and Lyoner had been to Blackmont and met with its Lord on several occasions. The two had the priveledge of the status of their house and loved to journey all across Dorne. This time they came with purpose, with an agenda. They approached the black walls of the city with their guard as they always did however, laughing and joking. Lyoner eyed the gates, as if fate made this feel all the more familiar. Lenora was the first to speak, sensing her cousins hesitance.
Good guards, I am weary from my journey. Would you mind showing me to food water and your Lord?

The guard grunted, and let her pass; to be escorted into the keep by another large man. Apparently the castle was guarded by eunuchs and mutes...

The two cousins exchanged glances, awfully quiet and morose now days...I wonder if the bandits have hit them hard? they thought rather similarly. Lenora spoke up after some moments, How fares your city with these horrid bandits about?

Grimacing, then gesturing up to the formidable yet foreboding fortress that stood on the hill, carved into the mountain. The guard silently lead them towards the crooked gates.

The cousins awaited quietly as they were brought to the Lord of Blackmont.

The Lord of Blackmont was a huge man, almost seven feet tall. He sat on his throne in full armour, wearing a grimace. Not entirely a pleasure to look at, he wore a scraggly beard that fell to his chest along with a deep scar that ran down his face.

    Milord and lady Dayne.

Lenora smiled her lovely smile. Beside her, her cousin Lyoner walked with swagger. Lenora bowed and spoke softly, My Lord, it has been some time! I haven't been here since I was small. It's gotten much more....drab. Lenora said with a teasing look.
Lyoner stood next to her looking around

Lord Blackmont remained expresionless. Clearly he was never in the best of moods.

    Indeed. Times are tough.

Aye, and how have you been dealing with these tough times? Sitting and hiding from what I hear. Lyoner said scoffing.

Lenora looked at him with hard eyes,
Now now dear cousin, it's not proper to be rude in a mans own home. I am sure the Lord has done everything in his power to deal with the bandits. Haven't you Lord? Lenora said kindly. She knew the answer to that question.

Lord Blackmont merely gestured to the wall behind him. The skulls of various men hung up as trophies.

Oh, pardon me Ser. I didn't realize a few dozen heads stacked nearly as close to the hundreds my dear cousin is hunting for now, throughout the Red Mountains. What will be your excuse for inactivity when my cousin arrives hmm? What will be your excuse when the Reach Lords demand an answer for why youve been harboring these miscreants? Lyoner started off calmly be realized at the end he was practically shouting. In attempts to lower his voice, he then simply states,

What happens when your people begin to ask why is it that the Swor of the Morning had to act before you?
Lenora shot him a dirty look and shot an apologetic one at the Lord,
I am sorry for his tone my Lord... Is there...anywhere the two of us can speak privately? She asked referring to the Lord and herself

Blackmont seemed calm, giving Lyoner a cold look that suggested he was going to remove his intestines at a moments notice. He nodded to Lenora, and led her towards his solar.

Lenora looked at the man as they got to his solar, I am sorry Lord, my cousin gets ahead of himself...... I hope he has not offended you. After a few moments to read the Lords face, she continues softly. Though he spoke improperly, I'm afraid he may have a point.... My brother Greylock will arrive soon enough with some thousands of men after slaughtering these bandits. She lowered her voice to a whisper and lowered her head, He may not be the only one applying pressure either

The guards seemingly read the lord's mind, and locked the door to the solar

    Pressure?

Aye, Lenora said cautiously, pacing around the room. She stopped near the Lord, never for a second daunted by the man, and looked him in the eyes. My cousin spoke outrageously out of turn but not outrageously incorrect. There are many that are upset by your...perceived.. lack of action. A few may even call for your Seat to be removed. Such talk has been quieted by my brother Edric but when Greylock arrives what you do may have long lasting ramifications for your house. Lenora got back up and began pacing again. The slight look of worry on her face. My brother Edric does not want to see you removed from that chair you sat proudly on.

lord Blackmont stood tall, and proud.

Your brother is not my liege. I answer to Martell.

Yes, that is true. But Martell hasn't tried her hand at rule her for nigh a decade. The people don't look to her to make things right, you MUST know this! Lenora said with a slight urgency in her voice.
The people are coming to my brother, and he delivers, it's why they come to him. Martell has been a shadow for years. Put your trust where the people have. Believe me Lord.

    Blackmont simply shrugged.

    I need something in return.

    He glanced at her suggestively.

My Lord, as flattered as I am, my brother is already offering you keep in charge of your city and fortress. He only asks the title changes. I am quite unwedable, but not I think, unbedable. What would your wife think? Lenora said with calm and quiet flush.

    The Lord Blackmont looked outraged.

WHAT? He wants me to give up my title that my fathers fathers have held since before the coming of Nymeria? I think not!
