    Default Wages in Third Age

    I am a little confused how the wages are calculated. It would be great if someone can help me with that topic.

    What units are paid by wages and how much does what unit cost per turn?

    As far as I know all agents (spies, diplomats and assassins) get paid over the wages. But how much does the different kinds of units get?

    Also my general units get paid over the wages? 250 per general? Is the upkeep for the bodyguard also paid from the wages? Or does they belong to the normal army upkeep?
    Is the size of the bodyguard related to the amount of stars of the general or the experience of the unit?

    "What units are paid by wages and how much does what unit cost per turn?"

    in standard M2TW games there should be only agents (and not all of them); I think it is the same in TATW.

    "But how much does the different kinds of units get?"

    it is reported on the sheet of each agent; IIRC spies have 200, diplomats 100, assassins ... I think you can also see on the descr_character.txt to be sure of the costs

    "Also my general units get paid over the wages? 250 per general? Is the upkeep for the bodyguard also paid from the wages? Or does they belong to the normal army upkeep?"

    I'm pretty sure it goes on army upkeep

    "Is the size of the bodyguard related to the amount of stars of the general or the experience of the unit?"

    the older, the bigger the BG up to a set maximum; leaders and heirs have bigger BG compared to other generals

    I took a look at the descr_character.txt. Every unit got the line "wage_base".

    General = 250
    Spy = 100
    Diplomat = 50
    Assassin = 200
    Admiral = 50
    Priest???= 100

    To test if nothing is missing I counted all my agents and generals and calculated with the numbers for the descr_character.txt. It matches exactly.
    So bodyguard upkeep belongs to normal army upkeep and the skills of the generals doesn't raise their wages. Also nothing else, like f.e. watch towers, belong to the wages.

    BTW: Stars are relevant for the size of the bodyguard. Also the generation. Sons get bigger body guards than grandsons. Leader got the biggest, heir the second biggest bodyguard, than sons, grandsons and so on.

    I think all agent units and family members are paid wages while military troops are categorized under army upkeep.

    According to desc_character the wages payed to these characters are these:

    family members: 250 cold/turn,
    spy 200:
    assassin: 200
    diplomat: 50
    admiral: 50

    merchants and generals don't require salary.

    Is the size of the bodyguard related to the amount of stars of the general or the experience of the unit?
    No idea.

    No idea.
    Also the non-family member generals take 250 per turn.

    It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it.

    All Generals get 250 per turn Wage + 250 per turn upkeep. Hence one of the first pieces of advice to new players that are broke is; "Do not accept adoption offers unless the General in question has really good traits- only one out of three should be accepted in general".
