    Default Mount&Blade: Total War

I'm not sure if this has been posted here yet, and I don't think that's the official title of the project (just made it up), but there's been a guy posting updates on Reddit on this mod he's working on. Just wanted to see what you guys thought of it. Keep in mind that it's very early work. He just started about a week ago.

Skip to about 1 minute 55 seconds if you want to get straight to the action.

I was watching and then... What about it? Until the Captain moved... And he moved... ALONE! Without his stack of knights, without anyone, and I was amazed, then I thought that was great, and in fact, too good to be true, just noticed, it's certainly a fake, even the way his men stand and fight, and the way he fought, the sword blows and everything, it's all exactly like MTW2, has absolutely nothing to do with Mount & Blade mechanics.

I think it's a Medieval II mod that allows a general to move independently, not a Mount & Blade mod that's based on Medieval II. As kevindrosario noted, Mount&Blade: Total War isn't really the name of the mod.

It's a mod that is supposed to allow you to control the leading unit directly while maintaining the strategic command. In a way, it's sort of a marriage of M&B with Total War, but really it's just going to be a new way to enjoy playing this game, like any mod.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the scene overall. The general solo-charges a bunch of pikemen on horseback, which should be an act of suicidal foolhardiness, and is rewarded with victory and beats the pikemen. Although perhaps this is a subset of the general "pikes don't work well in M2TW" issue rather than specifically this mod's issue.

I'm not entirely sure what he did there, but I'll ask later on /r/TotalWar. He seems to frequent there. It could just be for demonstration, or related to the earlier discussion on the general incredibleness of generals vs. everything.

I think he might have just make the general near invincible for the demonstration. A really interesting concept nonetheless.

How awesome if Taleworlds and CA had combined their games into one for Medieval 3.
It's redundant to write your username at the end of your post,
if I wanted to see your name I'd look to the left of my screen.

Crusader Kings 2 grand strategy map/mechanics, Total War battles, and go down into the action during battles Mount&Blade style.

I would pay $300 for that game.

That'd be one hell of a game indeed.

It's insane but I think I would pay that amount myself too

NO ****ING WAY! This is jolly good as a MOD only, if you take the next Medieval game on Total War series and make it you control like RPG and you are but one man in an army, it would ruin the strategy game we like so much. Remember that even if RPG and strategy are usually based on the same theme (medieval for example), it has NOTHING to do with one another.

As for a mix between Crusader Kings 2 and Medieval 2 I agree it would be good, but it also depends, I played Crusader Kings and was excited about it in the first two days, after it it got boring, too repetitive and hard, I couldn't even keep my own kingdom, let alone expand, the foolish claim-maker didn't ever work properly, I laid claim on Wales and waited years, nothing to return, the Scots attacked me and the French as well, and all I saw was "Brother I need to marry!!" or "My liege I uncovered a plot to kill your wife!!!" all the time.

Make sure you play as a Catholic. It's the EZ mode religion. If you're able to become a Catholic Emperor, you can then vassalize the Pope and have absolute control over all of your vassals. If any of them join a faction against you, then excommunicate and imprison them. No rebellions ever. I'd recommend using Duke William of Normandy on the Sept 15 1066 start. He is probably the easiest guy to start with.

Orthodox is a much more difficult religion since it's decentralized. Your head of religion might be the Ecumenical Patriarch in Constantinople, but your vassal's head of religion might be the Patriarch in Alexandria, Antioch, Rome, etc. So you usually won't be able to excommunicate your vassals.

As for getting claims, waiting years to fabricate claims is a waste of time. You should invite claimants to your court. Also, marry princesses. For example, if I start as the King of France and marry the daughter of the Holy Roman Emperor, then my heir will have a Weak Claim on the Holy Roman Empire. Smart marriages are a very good way to get claims.

I did indeed play as William the Conqueror. I couldn't even keep England, let alone wage war against the Papal States, I'm really noob on Crusader Kings.
