    Default Your oldest general?

So in my Portugal campaign (SS 6.4), I happen to click on my capitol and see this:

I've seen a few generals and kings make it to their 80s, but this is the first I've seen one make it to 90. I'm pretty certain he married into the family while he was still in his teens, so this guy is practically older than dirt. He was a city dweller his whole life, save for sallies during a couple sieges, so that probably contributed to his extremely long life. Tragically, he died on the next turn So yeah...how old was your oldest general?

(If anyone's wondering why I'd barely expanded any over 100+ turns, I'm taking this campaign at a very leisurely pace)

My oldest general in SS might be around 85, in vanilla sadly the avarage age is 60 something.

Sixty seems fine (maybe a bit high) for an average. The problem with vanilla is that variance is too low. You should have some family members who randomly die at age 34 of peritonitis following a burst appendix or something and some who make it to 95. Maybe charging out with a bodyguard might not be so viable after 60 or so, though. (Enrico Dandolo did go on the 4th crusade in his 90s I guess, but I don't know how many cavalry charges he took part in...)

Update: Although maybe if you randomly had some generals dying at age 41 in hunting accidents some living to 80, it would be too infuriatingly unpredictable to play.

    O.O

I'm also playing a Portuguese campaign on SS, at this moment! The only difference is that I converted Porto to city, and kept it as capital instead of changing to Lisbon (as it should have been, I don't know why the capital was changed to Lisbon in 1255).

    -.-

Enrico Dandolo was blind, he merely accompanied the Crusaders, and even if he wasn't, I'm sure NO ONE ever went to war at the age of 90 (except militia defending their homes).

Well I can't thingk of anybody who died in battle at that age, but there might be someone! Antigonus I Monophthalmus died in battle at the age of 81 after being struck by a javelin. Antigonus II Gonatas also died at the age of 80 and was involved in battles right up to the end. Being blind was no hindrance - The Blind King John of Bohemia died fighting at Crecy, though he was only 50 years old.

I think this depends on the mod you're playing.

Wow, that is spectacularly old! I think my oldest was about 87-90 years old, in Rome.

What mod is that by the way Kataphractos?

112??! Even modern medicine doesn't guarantee you'd live that long. (love that 'Blissfully Ignorant' description )

My campaign's about 70 turns farther on from when my pic was taken. I should probably move the capital at some point.

Yep, happened to me too. My first SS6.4 campaign was an early one as the Byzantines. The FL that I got right from the start of the game (that's Alexios, right?) got to live up to 92 years. I also got another 2-3 FMs that lived up to 90, and the majority of my FM lived up to 80-85. 'Twas an awesome campaign.

This guy served in the military for longer than the world's highest life expectancy today.
