Shogun 2 will not start

I am having a problem with TWS2, that I've seen various threads on. After updating, Shogun will not start. It goes to the start splash screen and freezes. I can't alt+tab out or ctrl+alt+del out of it either. It always requires a hard re-start. I have verified game cache, and deleted all my steam folders except for Steamapps and steam.exe. Nothing has worked so far. Shogun worked before this last update, which took 3 days to download (I have satellite internet). Here's my dxdiag, any ideas? Thanks.

Did you also delete the Shogun2 folder in users\username\appdata\roaming\the creative assembly?

Still a no go. Is TWS2 the most problematic game CA has put out?

So far. Have you installed and/or using Chrome?

No, I had it at one point in time. But I deleted it.

I just loaded my Shogun2 so it's on your computer.
Have you tried rebooting your computer?
Have you tried eliminating any toolbar entries in the registry using regedit?
Have you tried uninstalling Adobe Flash and reinstalling from http://www.adobe.com?
Have you run Windows Update manually installing all software options?
Are there any entries in the Event logs pointing to shougun2.exe, steam.exe, flash.exe, etc.? Click on Start, type in event viewer, and enter.

Yes to reboot, no toolbar entries, haven't tried adobe yet, windows is up to date (except for .net 4), no event logs for Shogun or steam.

.Net 4 can be the problem.

Still a no go. You know I bought this game when it first came out, and I've only played it for 20 hours. The rest of the time, due to steam, I haven't been able to. I even turned off updates, but it don't work.

What are you using for antivrus and firewall?

I'm not. I generally don't get viruses, but if I suspect I use Housecall and Malware bytes.

Nope, plugged straight into the modem.

I have the same problem with the game crashing after splash screen.

have tried pretty much everything by now and cant get it to work.


tried:
restart
reinstall
verify integrity of game cache with the deletion of C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2
deleting chrome and flash
reinstalling .net framework and c++
looked at regedit
unistall antivirus/firewall
updating drivers

Look in the user/appdata/thecreativeassembly/shogun2/logs folder and see if you have a log that info about stuff not loading right, it will be in modified dot txt. That was the problem with mine. If you do, you go into you steam/steamapps/common/shogun2 folder and find the corrupt files and delete them. It worked like a champ for me.
