Default Am I missing something out, or is it really hard to see what's going on in a battle?

Just to clarify, I've played all the previous TW games starting with Rome and never had this problem. But in Shogun 2, I've played the night battle from advanced tutorial, and without spamming the 'highlight' button and constantly looking on a map I could hardly tell what's going on! I mean there's a battle between my and enemy forces somewhere on the map, and they look the same, and it's hard to distinguish between their colors at night, so the battle looks like a total mess to me! There's somebody fighting somebody, and it's impossible to see how many troops you or the enemy have left and what the hell is going on in general.

Am I missing something out, or this the way it is supposed to be?

Considering most factions share units and said battle was a night I can imagine it was hard to distinguish your own units.

    He's right.

Mostly battles are set in fog or some "beautiful" misty backdrop. MP battles are ruined because most battles take pace in some kind of enigmatic mist during low cloud in spring.

Another thing to remember in both field and naval engagements in mist or fog is the fact that whilst you can't see what's going on the AI has every movement of yours completely visible to him.

Ergo, you move a unit or units to flank the enemy it is immediately known to him, whilst if he does the same it will remain invisible to you.

Did you turn off the floating flags for units by any chance?
Because that's the only thing I can think of creating this problem.
