One of the little things i have hated most about Shogun 2/FotS is that there was no minimal UI to enable, unlike other past TW titles (and it causes also some performance problems, as shown HERE).
So, is there a chance that it'll be back?

I thought Shogun 2 already use minimal UI by default.

No, that was the standard one (you can compare it with non minimal ui in other TW titles). There is an option in the prefernce.ini to enable it but it doesn't work
Well for me it's minimal enough compared to previous Total War games. NTW also uses minimal by default and Shogun 2 makes it a standard now. There's no more large UI as in previous games since RTW.
You can't minimize something that's already minimal but I believe you can disable the unit cards etc altogether.

As LestaT said, the UI in Shogun 2 is already the equivalent to the minimal UI in previous iterations.
The UI in Rome 2 is likely to be just as streamlined and compact. The gameplay video on Teutoburg Forest showed the UI - it looked pretty clean (the unit cards are debatable).
Nah it looked terrible in the Teutoburg video imo.
The Shogun 2 UI aint that bad but sliding unit cards wont work which needs fixed.U u can enable it in scripts and it just wont work
They need a new minimal UI.

I seem to remember that they put it back in FotS, by pressing "k", it was pretty cool
