    Default Extended Greek Mod

I have gotten a strange error message after installling the XGM 4_0_14 mod. After loading it crashes to desktop with the Error message can't find skeleton "f1_s1_semi fast archer". Does anybody know what to do about this?

    Thanks.

    1. go to data/descr_model_battle
    2. press ctrl+f and find where is written fi_s1_semi_fast_archer
    3. replace that line (where all are written) to fs_ semi_fast_archer

p.s. better to backup that file (descr_model battle) before changing any thing

I'm new to the forum, and got a few questions on the same mod so I thought instead of cluttering the forums with posts on the same mods, to find and resurrect an old one might be better. I am crazy like that. :-D

Okay, two things, first should be easy but I went to preferences and all the way at the bottom on the XGM. The final option is renaming cities and it seems to default to FALSE. I switch this to TRUE, then save ad exit but when I play, it switches it back to FALSE. Why is this? (I like to rename Patras to Argos .. again crazy like that.)

Secondly, there is a minor optional download to change the battle map look of Athenian Hoplites. I have zero mod capabilities myself and whoever did that little addition I was wondering, if it is at all possible to make a new version of Cretan Archers recruitable from Crete. (Possible problem is the Cretan Archers are also mercs available to all factions, if in the right provinces. Don't care if it'll change those also or not.) I want their look to be somewhat aken to the Vanilla R:TW Amazon Chariots, only on foot like the Cretan Archers are. Maybe more red in the hair, kinda strawberry blonde instead of golden blonde, if not too difficult. With the Athenian Hoplites all the mod incapable individual had to do is replace a single file. I can handle little more than just that xD.

I use Rome: Total War version 1.5.

If any modder feels like giving this a shot I'll be forever thankful of any finished female archers to support my Hoplites and Thorakitai from across the Aegean! It's my beliefs that women are equally responsible to the defense of cities as are the men .. and also in aggressive movements against other cities as well.

P.S. I used to play Amazon Total War but XGM pulled me in far more.. once I tried to move an Amazon unit to XGM which was an epic fail and my only true attempt at modding. I've since gotten a new comp and didn't bother with Amazon ..

P.P.S. If there's another way like pulling a unit from another mod that is a rather simple process, I'll settle for exiting skins/textures.

If you run the game and change options it will often change the preferences file. Just set it to "read only" and it should stop
Always been set to yes by default in my game?

Can't answer the modding questions as that extends beyond my capabilities of modding which is simply altering descr_strat, adding/changing names text file/UI stuff. Models and textures are a no go area for me.

LOL Pretty much same here. The prefs seemed to stick though after I turned "LABEL_SETTLEMENTS" to FALSE. Reopened game and could rename cities. Closed out game and turned label settlements back on and could still rename cities as well it seemed .. odd touchiness there. Well I'm not complaining lol. Now to just find a modder willing to take on that challenge of mine lol. Thank you gaunty for the response.
