General Portraits

Was wondering wether they've mentioned anything about General Portraits?
In the walkthrough we dont actually see Varus Potrait. I was thinking of this idea.
this is the portrait in the original Rome
In the new rome, seeing as how the unit cards are all ancient pottery glyphs. Maybe the Generals could have their portraits be Busts of them while their alive, and then Deathmasks when they die. These can be shown on the battlefield or on the family tree.

To be honest I'm not really fond of the idea of having unit cards be like vase drawings but since their doing it, this could be a good idea for the general portraits?

What do you guys think?

I guess maybe it'd be okay as long as they added maybe some color to them or something

Well it have to be minimal, but the bust would have to deviat from faction to faction. Not all factions had busts or death masks, but each portrait could be special in its own way.

As for the unit cards in general, we saw Roman units had Vase-like drawings for unit cards. Maybe other factions' unit cards will be represented differently ...

Maybe there's no more character general unit card since with 1tpy etc Rome II is more about the army/family rather than individual general/character. Even the general unit in Teutoberg battle was only shown as cavalry unit with Legatus as the name. Maybe this time, like it was shown on the trailer we are no longer controlling the general/character like Varus on the battlefield as in all previous Total War games but we are Varus himself. What we will see on the screen are just our armies.

I'm only talking about battle. There will probably still be character potraits in family/senate/government panel.

I don't know. I only base my opinion on alpha footage trailer. The general (Legatus) unit card in that battle is shown as cavalry unit and not character face as in previous games.

Yeah, I am pretty sure they were not controlling him. Varus ran off and fled to his death, while the narrator was trying to get out of the forest with the army.

In the Teutoburg Forest Walkthrough, when the character (Varus said something) a small picture of him popped up at the top left corner

At the top left corner when you start all the games, that where the guy talks to you about your starting position or gives you advice.
Thats could be what it is since its a historical battle

I know in there was some Barbarian portraits released a while ago, Averni or Suebi I think, but I'm not sure whether it was the portraits to be used in the game, or just concept art. I just had a brief look through the forums and I couldn't find them though, they were released with a bunch of Germanic agent concept art a few months back. I'm not making this up I swear!

Nothing regarding Roman generals though unfortunately...
