Default How can RTRPE be used with -mod:?

Hi everybody. Is there any way RTR can be used with the "-mod:" feature. This would allow me to use multiple mods with different shortcuts. Any help is appreciated.

1)Check this link. http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=44332 Stuie did it
but I don't know if the link works. It also tell how to do it yourself.

2)You can also use JSGME http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showth...84#post1009484. READ IT CAREFULLY

3)You can also copy and paste RTW to your desktop to have two or more
    versions.

To use the -mod:my_mod switch for RTR, when installing the mod rather than pointing it to your RTW directory, create a subdirectory called "RTR" or something similar. The installer will then unpack all the files to that folder, and you can then add -mod:rtr to your command line to make it run RTR.

    It should work, anyway.

Also, remember to place the files that are unique to RTR into the vanilla RTW folder, for instance unit texture files, UI card, etc. If you don't want that, you could edit some .txt files to enable the game to load those files, but that could be very painstaking.

I don't think that's necessary. The -mod switch searches for files in the folder specified, starting with its data subfolder.

So if a text file referenced a texture file called "data\models_unit\textures\manwearingnopants.tga" it would first look in the data subfolder specified by the -mod switch and, if it couldn't find the file there, it would look in the vanilla data folder. So all references to the data folder in text files would make the game check the mod directory first. It's the same system that the BI exe uses; if it can't find a specific file in the bi\data folder, it'll search the RTW\data folder.

At least, I'm pretty sure that's the case. I'll double-check it later...

Hmm, but that didn't happen to me, at least. The game simply "failed to load" files like barbarian_huge_walls.CAS, which are unique to RTR. Once I placed these files in respective folders in the original RTW folder, it worked.

    I stand corrected.

Anyway, good to see someone has it working Perhaps someone should set up a definitive tutorial on how to do it?

That would be great! But don`t look at me. I have no experince with it. So, as I said, if anyone else would care to do such a guide it would be great.

You have to add rtr in front of unique sprites and things. Check the thread I posted in
    post number two.

Thanks to all of you guys for the help. Very usefull help. I put it to work. I added the RTR folder to the data folder. Than I added the barbarian walls files to models_strat/residences and created a rtr folder with the other files left that I use the -mod function. It works fine. I believe I won't have any CTD. Once again thanks! Now I can play RTR, SPQR, Citadel and Chivalry mods just by clicking different shortcuts. No mod switchers needed. I hope people will release next versions of their mods with the -mod functions. I'm so happt because this is my first time playing RTR and I'm having a lot of fun. I never played before because I already had SPQR and it would be a lot of work to uninstall it to play RTR.

IF someone has used the mod switch. I know Stuie has made one but the link is broken(points to org site)
The only problem you might have if you do everything right is loading screen 9.
