Reinstalling problem error 1311

I had to restore my computer. Wipe every thing off and start over type of deals. While trying to restall Rome Total War I get the error message 1311 can not find source code D:/world.cab. So I can't install the game. This is my favorite game and want to get it back and running. Any help would be appricated. If I have to go out and buy a new copy I will. I just want to get this up and running again. Never had a problem until now.

I'm having the same darn problem right now with the same error message. Any ways to fix this? (I have used mods many times and uninstalled and reinstalled many times with this never happening before.....) this is a drag...

actually fixed the problem! it was really dirty and scratched. woohoo!

alright now i'm having another problem! only this time it cant find the file in the C: (which is the actual computer and not the disc i believe, so i cant clean it.) um, what now?

That means the game did not install correctly and not everything is in the registry right. If I was betting from you saying how scratched your disk is, it is the disk. When it is installing, it's getting enough info to think it's done but with holes left by the scratches.

i think you're right bro. i was able to get it installed, but now it freezes everytime i try a battle. does anyone know a solution to this, or am i gonna have to buy another copy of the game?
