I was playing AE on m/m as the romans. I got a ceasefire with the Greeks and
about 16 turns later Pyrrhus got on a boat. The same turn a Pirate boat sank it. So All of Italy is soon to be mine.MWHHAAAAHAAAHAA
Has this happened to anyone else?![]()

no, I always make sure I kill him in battle. And route his army.

My strategy was to conquer the rebel cities before I had to face Pyrrhus. I wanted a good
economy so I could rebuild my army if I needed to.Those elephants are intimidating!

yes they are. I know how evil they can be. But for me I always think by taking him out of the picture real early, you'll have no problem in killing him.

True but the ai is unpredictable. Sometimes they protect the elephant and sometimes they
don't. What strategy to kill them do you use? The only one I know only worked in vanilla.(Phalanx)which sucks in this game.

I find that the elephants go down really fast when like 160 hastati, 160 pricipies, and about 320 velites each throw at least one volley at them, in the end they recieve over 1000 javelines total, too bad you can't see the missiles stick in their targets, then we would really have some pincushions.
How do you tell them to aim for the a**.![]()
In loose formation I presume. Too bad you can't give flaming arrows to velites. Then their lighted javelin would scare it.

Velites are so good against them because
a)can jump out of the way in loose formation
b)get a plus 6 bonus against elephants
c)the javelin

after u kill the elephants, I sometimes feel bad. U know there just animals doing there job. The job is to kill as much men as possible. Then after I see wat they did to my ranks, the sorrow goes away, then i'm happy again.

word of advice. No matter wat, do what ever it takes to prevent them to going around your army. I mean if u have to scarifice tour general just to delay them do that. That happen to me once, and they routed my entire center. They all ran they picked them off, and I lost the baulk of my legion. It happen to me once and it has never happen again, cause I protect my flanks a little better now. But yea.

Do you mean prevent them from flanking your army? The AI has never flanked me ever. Is it capable of doing that?Originally Posted by century x

I nearly always call for a ceasefire straight away to avoid losing units early on. I mop up the rebel cities first and wait to be backstabbed... and it works! Lol.
(I can't remember any of the settlement names)
I took the rebel city to the south of Capua and garrisonned one Velites and one Hastati, I had a big stack near by. Then Phyruss attacked this settlement hoping to use the elephants to smash down the walls. I knew exactly what to do. 14 Velites later Phyruss was without his elephants and was forced to withdraw from my sally battle. In the next turn my stack attacked his and because it was in a wooded area, he's phalangites suffered a disadvantage and I whooped their collective ass with my hastati and velites.![]()
yes I do mean, that the AI flank my army, goes around it, and attacks me.
