Considering most of the slaves of this period for factions such as the Romans came from the conquered whites of the barbarian north, do you think we'll get an accurate depiction of slaves and slavery in this game?

I'm not sure how slaves will be depicted ingame. Maybe we won't see them as units...
If we do, however, I hope to see some diversity in the heritage of the slaves, even within a uni![]()
What were the slaves the Spartans used to grow veg!!!!!!!Heliots or something. Are they white!!
I think the Persian army was full of slaves they made fight. In the movie 300 they had slaves and in Alexander also slave armys did not fight well against the brave Greek spearmen.I would like to see slaves building the Pyriamid in the back ground for immersion .Maybe slaves holding fans in the back ground begind Cleopatra.
Very good thread Stav
EDIT yes remembering BEN HURR he was a slave and worked racing chariots and also rowing a boat.Gladiators were slaves and it would be nice if Spartacus shows up and causes trouble and you have to sort him out.It would be mad if he showed up like William Wallace did in another game.
They should be white and brown, including Mediterranean types. It would be odd to see many black slaves in the game.
Is that a question!!!
But seriously, Helots would have been on the darker side of the "white" scale, on average, being Southern Greeks and all that.

WHOOOUA
Firstly, those who build the pyramids weren't slave at all, This error comes from Hollywood movies.
Secondly, pyramids were build thousand years ago and not in Rome conquering time
Thirdly, if even there were slave building the pyramid you won't see them because during the battle they would not build anything when there is next to them a battle

OK well the questions on this forum are now just getting ridiculous. Come on man who cares if there white green black orange honestly lol.
Total War is the only massive war game that has yet to be Surpassed keep up the good work CA don't let us down!!!!
No, CA will break all reason, common sense, and historical accounts and make all slaves come from the inaccessible, off-map sub-sahara
What is the point of this thread?
The thing is if Im correct CA has stated before they will not be showing slaves in a graphical view only as a statistic for revenue and as slave rebellions. But not in view of them being treated as slaves in plain sight. Because it could cause controversy and such im sure. So really asking this question is just /thread

I hope very much so. The addition of black slaves will cause such a huge ********* that the current hysterics in the forum will be rememberd as a time of peace, agreement and understanding.
They will be grey, to avoid racism.Seriously now, what's the fuss with all these discussions about racial variety in the game? Every Total War game had variation, even Empire...
Slaves won't probably even be in-game as units, unless CA releases a "Spartacus" expansion with Kirk Douglas as a 1-man hero unit.

Really, what is with these white/black threads? Why do these things even occur to people?
I preferred the "wrong spear tip on that pike" sort of threads.
It's nitpicking like any other, it's no different from any other silly little detail. But I think that these silly details, if done right, is what makes the game good. I don't get the negativity directed towards these threads. I mean, if say greeks were paler or darker in history, or if the spear was held that way, and they bring proof, and it doesn't affect gameplay.. Why not choose the alternative that's more accurate? I also don't get why people seem to think that any discussion about 'race' is taboo. With all due respect, even though we live in a silly era in that regard, it's just immature to shy away from talking about it.
I'm thinking it woulc be useful to break some stereotypes people might have also. Like the scythians, who were a very colourful people iirc. One doesn't expect that from steppe people; i'd think more like mongolian actually. Likewise many people might not think that many romans had blone curly hair, and green eyes.
Well, I don't know how it was back then, but nowadays Southern Greeks aren't any different in the south than they are more north. The exception being Crete which has a lot of Arab blood in it.
But anyway, it would only make sense to have predominantly white slaves, with a few more tanned people from the civilized world.
Slaves are important. They were used by Rome.
Yes pretty much everywhere in the world had slaves. And yes certainly there were black slaves amongst the millions of slaves in the Roman Empire, there were rich free black people too, even in Britain. But so what? lol. I mean we never see the slaves or the citizens in these games do we? What do you expect to see?
