    Default Saxon Invasion

This mod looks fantastic. I have just started rereading the Warlord Chronicles (like a lot of people here) to get me in the mood for it when it's released. I just have a couple of questions about the mod:

I really like the idea of playing as dumnonia or somewhere like that and trying to hold back the relentless hordes of saxons. However, on the map is looks like the angles, saxons and jutes will only start off with one or two provinces each, much less than dumnonia, or even gwent. I guess that the provinces in the east will be richer, but it still looks as though it will be easier to push the saxons out of britain in the game than it was in real life. Will there be some scripted mechanism for providing the AI saxons with more troops and money? it wouldnt be unrealistic given that they had in reality a large supply of potential settlers and soldiers in mainland europe.

Will religion play a part in the mod? And if so what religions will be present? I'd imagine christianity and paganism will be the main ones, but will the mod differentiate between saxon paganism and celtic paganism? I'd also love it if the mod featured EB-style ethnicity traits for each of the characters, so you could have a native briton commanding saxon troops and so on.

Speaking of which, have traits and ancillaries been worked on any? I'd understand if it wasn't a big priority for the beta release, but for me it really adds a lot of depth to the game and It would be nice to know if you were considering some work on them

    Finally, any update on progress?

We planned the release for... the 30th august but this will be a little delayed, we have still some polishing to do, finishing the 2D work like banners, getting a good promotion article ready so expect the release for the first week of September (as I got an exam the 4th).

Actually, Anglo-Saxons hold the provinces they were supposedly holding circa 481 AD, less than often believed, even Londinium was still in Britonic hands. But they got advantages:
    - AI factions get money by script when they need
    - Anglo-Saxons faction have each year a chance to get scripted reinforcements from mainland. More troops = More upkeep so expansion is needed.

Our current tests are really good for the Engle, who managed to take Elmet and Ebrauc. Saxons needs a bit tweaking, and Dyfneint/Dumnonia is a bit too strong actually, but this is currently rebalanced.

There will be only two religions for the first release: Christianism and Paganism. However, we plan three religions for an later release, making distinction between Celtic and Roman Christianism. There wasn't a lot of pagans by the end of the Vth century, except Saxons and Northern Picts of course, but lot of people in Britain and Ireland were Celtic christians (however, this is not the same thing as the "Celtic rite" accepted in the Roman church), their religion was full of pagans things and they were very attached to the old celtic customs. This third religion was initially planned for this release but we had troubles implementing it and so it will wait

Next to nothing have been done yet about this. New traits are planned for the next releases, and maybe in the future a whole new system

Do the Jutes also get money and reinforcements, or is it only Engle and Saxons?

I thought that perhaps since the Jutes wasn't as aggresive (something I assume, since I don't really know much about it...) they wouldn't get reinforcements, and you only mentioned Engle and Saxons regarding the balance...

Will the reinforcements appear like in Chivalry TW, by pressing "show me how", when the advisor tells of a new bash of warriors form good ol' Jutland?

Yeah... kinda interpreted it like the Anglo-Saxons got more, so they would be stronger...

This doesn't really matter, cause the AI won't be in charge of the Jutes

    Yes, scripted reinforcements

Jutes were the founders of the first Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Britain: Kent. They were originally the strongest AS faction too, beeing the patrons over Saxons and Angles. Situation appeared to change in the VIth century.

The first saxon kingdom was Suth Seaxe, and its king, Aelle, probably formed a strong alliance with Aesc of Kent (the son of the famous Hengest). This alliance was defeated by the Britons - possibly under Arthur - at Badon Hill. Suth Seaxe then apparently disappeared as a kingdom, and the Jutes were probably weakened too. The next threat for the Britons of Dumnonia and South Wales will be essentially Wessex, emerging after 510 AD. Kent was probably still wealth enough to keep its borders for a while, controling the trade with the Frankish kingdom.

This will be interesting. As I understand it, the cultural exchange between Celtic Christians and Eastern Christians (particularly in Egypt) was very strong, and I have even seen Celtic stone carvings identical to scenes portrayed in Eastern Orthodox icons. As a Scot and an Orthodox Christian, I personally will be very interested to see how this is implemented.
