they've already stated that not all units will participate in 1v1 combat style, thus we will hopefully see a return to m2tw; rtw combat style though i would keep a watch out in the following months. My main concern with phalanx is the constant changing between its primary and secondary weapon, hopefuly they've fixed that. Also the compactness of the unit; for example, the picture of the Spartan hoplites clobering up some barbarians disheartens me because there is not shield wall or any sort of compactness in the in unit. Instead, they seem to be fighting as individuals; the same seems to be apparent with the Romans in the Teutoberg Forest walkthrough. :/
