Please confirm or deny the death of avatar mode!

Hey all i just wanted to say that i know there are posts on this and people keep bringing it up but i do not understand why no one has realised there will not be an avatar mode like we know it.It would be stupid to have the choice of all the different units like in Shogun 2 and people would be running around with Romans,Phalanx's and the heroes of Sparta unit.Not to mention the possible thought of *gasp* custom colored pink legionaire's

The only real thing to do is have classic battles return or have the armies you can field in avatar mode restricted to a certain faction.For example if you picked Rome you would only have access to the units Rome has in the campaign but you would be free to upgrade them and your general with tokens etc.

I want to pre order off play.com for £25 and get the Greek DLC but i need to know if im going to have to fight heroes of sparta and custom colored troops.I pretty much instant quit online matches if i see bright colors like yellow pink.

Not really sure if I like avatar mode or not, so I for one don't really care. Sure avatar mode was a fun mode, but for the first few months of the game it made it impossible to play it a different way where you had all units available from the start, because no one else played that mode. But having your own custom general fight in Rome 2 would be kinda cool. So not sure what to think.

has anyone noticed for multiplayer they only mentioned coop? why didn't they mention the other types of multiplayer?

Good question. My guess is that it's common knowledge by now that TWR2 will probably have normal multiplayer similar to NTW or TWS2. I hope it's more like NTW.

I thought the Avatar Campaign was a step in the right direction. It was incredibly buggy when it first came out but in the end I think it was worth the trouble.

Loved Avatar and classic battles get boring rather quickly. If there is an avatar mode it should be limited by culture at the minimum.

I think being able to have a custom general would be cool, but that's as far as I'd take it for this time period and setting.

You can stick to classic mode if you wish, but I do not want to see Avatar mode neutered. The veteran system is a major part of the fun in avatar mode and I hope it stays, after using vets from MP it pains me to see how generic the veteran system is in single player.

I loved how Avatar mode had a unit editor that somehow couldn't be given to campaign

I didn't like Avatar mode, but I liked being able to make my own General, unlock unit parts for him, and customize my units. Wish they would give that to single and multiplayer campaigns.

Multi-player isn't for everybody and I understand that, I personally liked both and would love to see some of the avatar features in single player. For example like:

-Being able to rename veterans
-Customizing a General's/Faction Leader's armor (that would be sick)
-Being able to re-color veteran units
-Some control over veteran unit upgrades

I can't tell you how many times I picked a character to be my main general based on how neat his armor looked. If anything you should at least be able to customize your faction leader or heir's armor, the options could be limited by their level so the higher command they have the more options you have.

I loved the avatar mode and I HOPE it will make a return. One solution for your fears would be that when you create an avatar you choose faction aswell? So you create an avatar and then asign him to the roman faction? I think this would be great

Absolutely loved customising my own general and units,i guess you`ll have to pick a faction for your avatar this time,so your army wouldn`t end up composed of Heroes of Sparta,elephants,berserkers..unless by some chance if conquering a "contested" region outside your homeland you could get access to foreign mercs
