    Default No descendants as Roman

    Hey guys,

is it normal that romans don't get any descedants? Half of my Maximus family will die out in 20 years, the other 50% are over 35 and haven't ANY children? I'm at 570 a.u.c. and the family is in the 4th. generation. Is there anything I can do?

It's normal. Can happen in campaigns. One family dies out, another one takes it's place. That's realistic. You can roleplay with it. In a new campaign it could be different. The actual family could be the ruling one for many decades. Every campaign is different and everything could be different. So you don't know exactly how your campaign is going. If you know that, then it would be boring.

Once your new leader isn't a Maximus anymore, does the game shift to showing the new ruling family?

What you're seeing, btw, is just one outcome out of the many that are possible. Judicious movement and management of Greek Physicians can help. All my characters get one when appointed to Command or Governorship

It would be ok if just the Maximus family dies out but my whole family tree has no decedants The men are over 50 and doesn't have any children.

Well, provided you like the person that has been 'appointed' Successor, then take the risk and see how his family is instead. If you don't like that one (Caligula....Nero....) - then 'try' another.

    Could be bloody......

Do not panic. Normally there are other family trees you do not see. Check your characters, There must be more than only the Fabii Maximi, Scipio, Terrentius Varro, Claudius Marcellus etc. But I want to repeat that there is a bug. In the 2.5 version no new Patrician families are appearing. So all Patrician lines will die out sooner or later. This is absolutely not historical. By the way, which Patrician family would have given their daughters to Plebeians??? In 2.1 all was fine. New Patrician families were intrduced. Now you only get equestrians and plebeians. Would be fine if you chseck this for 2.6.

That isn't actually true - there were always new Patricians recruited, but the spread wasn't as desired - and yes, it is a firm and 'fixed' part of v2.6.

That's reassuring ur-lord Tedric. As for no new male members yes I agree it can happen sometimes. In fact on my first play through the whole Maximus line died out after the third generation. At other times you get one family member bearing THREE heirs.

And in my current playtest the lines once more converge - I've also had too many old people offered for marriage - and now it seems all the remaining males are siring girls - so it seems as if the Maximus name will die out. It happens.....

Thanks for the message and the fix. It was only my game-experience, and I played the campaign untill the 670ties and all patrician families excluding the Fabii disappeared. In fact I had many many Fabbii. Waiting for 2.6. and thanx again.
