I'll start as Macedon to get a hang of the game. Then I'll play as the Seleucids if they are made available.

Athens or Macedon, but probably Athens due to their naval superiority.
You know the longer I wait for this game, the more unlikely it is i'll be playing Rome (which i originally voted for) as my first faction. Infact my faction order is starting to look more like Parthia> Averni> Epirus> Carthage> Pontus> Rome > everyone else....and thats if they DONT release a steppe factions DLC before I get around to Rome.
To be completely honest I dont think I will ever play as Athens or Sparta...
I totally agree with you. In the first game Rome was all I played. I never really expanded my thoughts because I was caught up in the Roman war machine. But now, with a much meatier game coming out I am starting to become attracted to the more diverse factions. Really excited to try out the Greeks and the northern tribes.
Rome then Sparta and then some Barbarian Tribe post that I don't know as by then some new DLC/FreeLC faction would have been introduced.
But before that I will play all factions in custom battles.
*then
Iceni Deff first then probably AthensRomans and Carthage last
FOR ROME!!!!!
Suebi first
after that Egypt, Carthage and Parthia
overly aggressiv invading romans are not my favorit faction
Definitely playing Rome first, ancient Rome has been my obsession since I was young. But as thesilhuette mentioned the game is so much more diverse and "meatier" now that other factions look very promising. Epirus may be the second one I try out.
It's a rome total war 2 ...of course my firts choice will be rome![]()
I'll probably play through the campaign tutorial first so I can get acclimated to the new politics dynamic. First real campaign will definitely be the Arverni though.
PARTHIA!!!! ALLAHU AK... Ahem, I mean woo lets kill some Romans!
Athens.
Carthage.
Averni... and then who knows?
No one likes Egypt![]()
Just voted for it.
I like it for various reasons:
A) Its starting positions enables me to use lots of amphibious invasions, both in mediterranian and the new persian gulf
B) Egypt has two world wonders plus one adjacent you can conquer the first rounds
C) It is the only faction that starts with a complete province enabling an edict
D) I always liked the beautiful nile region on the map, especially in the new campaign map
E) I start my first game on Very Hard (not legendary) and so I choose a relative easy faction and I suspect egypt to be the easiest one due to strategic position, I will choose harder ones after that.
Especially the first three reasons relate to new features in Rome 2. So its very good to explore the new features with Egypt.
Probably the Athenian, Macedonian and Spartan factions first, although I have not made my mind on the order I will do so, then Egypt, then the rest.
