    Default Corrupted Shogun 2 Version?

Hello there, I got this message whilst trying to start Shogun 2 since today:

I've bought the steam key game from a site when it was on discount (it's trusthworthy, got send there via Reddit, but forgot the name), anyway, since day one, I had a similar message when going into a battle. I could just press escape and the message was gone, so I didn't bother to fix it. I can't start the game at all since today however, which quite bothers me since I paid for it and I own a legal copy. What can I do to fix this?

It's about Steam be it empire, Napoleon, Shogun2, Rome2 when released, or any other Steam game.
Have you gone through the steps and suggestions in their FAQ?
Did Steam accept your activation code when entered?

Is it on Steam's list that are not compatible with Steam?
I get along fine with MSE and Malwarebytes.

reinstall steam (keep the "common" folder before and delete everything after the unistallation) then try to verify the integrity of the game with steam.

Sorry for this late reply, but I did like you guys said (removed Steam) and reinstalled all my games afterwards. First Shogun 2 worked after that without any error message, but it crashed (don't know if this has anything to do with it) and I had to go to work so I didn't tried to re-run Shogun 2. Today however, I tried to play the game, and I get the exact same error message..

Try it with Emsisoft disabled, maybe even uninstalled?

one of your avs doesn't like this game, try disabling all your avs while reinstalling and verifying cache
