The Great Eastern War

First some back story.

Basically of conquered Arvernian Gaul, Spain, Macedon, Greece, Thrace, Illyria, Dalmatia, Carthage, Thapsus, Hadrumtum, Assos, Pergamon and the one thats starts with S by Pergamon. All was well. 6 Legions in Gaul about to fight the Belgae, 3 in North Africa, 2 in Spain, 3 in Macedon and Thrace and 6 in Northern Italy awaiting deployment. Everything changed when the Seleucid's invaded. They took Pergamon and "S" rather quickly and destroyed an auxillia army sent to relieve the sieg of Pergamon. I rerouted 13 legions in a massive multi-faction war of destruction. I plan on taking out Pergamon, Pontus, half of Armenia, Egypt and crushing the Seleucids. Now I need help with stopping those bloody Cataphract Elephants. They ripped apart the army I sent and and didnt loose one of the beasts. Fighting Carthage I figured out how to stop them rather quickly, but these are monsters. I tried stone throwing Ballistae but the were too inaccurate. I was thinking either repeating ballistae's or Scorpions. I dont care if they dont die I just want them to run amok. Any help with strategies would be much appreciated. Thanks

Any other things I should be aware of in the middle east? Ive never actually fought there. Ive seen the scythe chariots and they can be dealt with. Fighting the Seleucids is so much different than the other factions Ive fought as every single unit seems to have good armor.

By providing you with many links on the topic of your question, I thought maybe you would thumb through them, seeing how other people deal with Cataphract Elephants (my advice was editing the EDU).

What happened when I faced the Seleucids was I made "elephant killing army's" they would go deep in there homeland and look for army's with elephants and destroy the city's producing them.

Half are the roman Marian javelin men and the rest are light infantry and light horseman

I pretty much saw red when I saw the emoticon so I will defs check out the threads. I don't really want to edit the edu. I wanna try and fight the elephants but if it realistically cant be done then so be it.
Also I saw the Rolling Stone magazines 10 worst bands of the nineties and Nirvana was number 5. I was pissed about that too.

I was thinking of doing that with HA and light horse with spies. I really wanna test out the Ballistae

Realistically can't be done really. We are adjusting these stats down significantly for the next release.

He meant "basically I've conquered" all those regions.

your a tool. how do you know that the guy isn't an english as a second language? or just a typo. I wish the grammar elite would stay away from these forums.

First off, in my experience it is almost exclusively native English speakers who make that error (this follows, given the nature of said error). Second, well done on the bolded section.

i've yet to meet those dreaded elephants, buuut i'd recommend 6 units of archers per legion, and at least one siege unit, and let them all target the elephants. i'm going to test this later on to see if it works.

once you cut their armor in half in the code they are manageable but still take a hell of a beating with the 15 hitpoints. Took me 4 archers firing flaming arrows. Once I fired half my ammo into them the went berserk. Then I charged two median spearman units at them, they took 75% casualties but took down about 2 elephants. Then I sent 2 cataphracts and 3 heavy cavalry units and they killed the last 7 or 8 of the elephants taking about 90% casualties. The last elephant was as hard to take down as the first elephant. the key is to deal with all the other units first, then divert all available units to attack the elephants at once.

I set all their stats to 0 because I was really getting tired of their crap, and I can rout them now, although I still can't kill them. I've been putting a siege ballista and a few units of archers in each of my stacks and it seems to work pretty well.

Just hit them with a flaming rock....and they run instantly... and better yet if you can get them inside a city and watch as they roll over everyone inside the settlement....but eventually they are somehow coherent enough to open the gate and leave the battle...
