Looking at the campaign map, the colour is different to both the Danes and the Poles. I wonder if its the Flemish?

Nope, they aren't a faction.
There are only 2 factions that are red and white and that's the danes and poles(why did they pick the same colors is beyond me)

Well look at the mini-map in the screenshot. The poles are white with a red border and the Danes are red with a white border; whereas that faction is burgundy with a white border and have a different banner to the Danes.

ok which is the faction is the christian faction in purple??? the symbol on their flag is the same symbol that all the Serbs at my school draw everywhere...but i thought that was "byzantium"

and the muslim faction in the yellow???

Not sure if we're referring to the same faction here, but the Byzantines are certainly that colour. Yellow is Egyptians!

I'm liking the countryside of France in that campaign picture. I'm wondering... do you think the more you develope agriculture the more it shows on the map? Or is it just set this way.

I believe that if you look at the screenshot of the dismounted sergeants from Venice they also have a dark red and white color scheme. So perhaps the Venetians have invaded Flemsh territory, unprecedented but that's what I like best about these games. The unexpected.
