Sorry for bringing this up again but I only recently was able to try it out. I'm sure I did everything I needed to do as you said but still the laptop won't even recognise that there is a disc in the drive. Everytime I double click on the drive it just says please 'insert disc and try again'?

Have you tried the disc in a different computer?

A Blu-Ray drive can't read the disc's format. It's been tried since Blu-Ray players have been sold to the masses.
Have you tried updating the firmware on it?

Try this one more time. A paid three-day-weekend in the States and putting up with 500s is not good news.

The only thing it will cost you is the time to find one if it exists.

Okay sorry for not replying in a while. For some reason the TW servers always seem to crash for me so I couldn't log in.
Alright well seeing as I'm not very good with messing about with computers I had to google how to disable the UAC and take ownership of the C drive. I did everything that was explained according to the following links as far as I'm aware while logged iin as the administrator yet the laptop still won't recognise the disc.

Those are the way to do it. I have linked your first link before but not the second.

It's down to the drive not reading the disc's format. Not nothing new. Don't expect Sega to change it while still pressing discs.

The only other options would be (1)getting lucky with an exteranal dvd-rom, or (2)copy the discs to a USB stick on your pc and see it will work that way.

Okay thanks for your help. I'll try to put the data on a USB when I'm home again in about a month's time.
