Eqvites Praetoriani not working - I'm using a Mac OSX

Hey peoples,

So I played the hell out of Europa Barbarorum two years ago, even on my Macintosh, and never had any bug nuisances or problems I couldn't fix. Switched over to playing the Stainless Steel mod for MDTWII for a long time. Now I'm finally going back to playing EB on my Mac. However, there's just one damn problem that's really pissing me off.

I like equites praetoriani. I like them a lot. I like playing with them, and seeing them on the battle map screen normally without a bunch of Picasso-style black and grey lines and boxes shooting all over my computer screen every time I rotate the damn camera view. I did an extensive battle map test with all other Roman units. The conclusion: the praetorian cavalry are the only unit that has this inexplicable problem.

Has anyone else ever experienced this haywire crazy ass problem? It looks like solid black and grey colored lasers are being fired all over the place and up into the sky of the battle map. For the life of me I can't figure out what happened (since this unit always worked fine before) or how to fix this conundrum.

I'm all ears. Thanks in advance to whoever gives good advice. I want my praetoriani back!

This should be in the Technical Support sub-thread.

Most likely, you installed something in the meantime (a mod, a newer driver, a virus, etc) that's messing around with your EB installation files.

Best advice you'd get from me is to do a fresh install of EB. But first wait for the more technical-savvy members to answer your question, maybe the re-install is not even required or it won't even work..

Well, no need for that now. I did a fresh reinstallation and the unit works fine now. Thank you, Bladvak, for the advice.

So, just in case anyone else has this problem in the future, I finally discovered the root of it! Whenever you turn off "unit shaders" under the video options from the main menu the problem then presents itself! That and it has missing textures for a number of other units, like funky looking helmets for the praetorian cohort and misshapen capes for roman archer auxilia and equites gallorum. This might only be a problem for the Macintosh version, but for anyone else here who might be using a Mac it's good to know this ****!
