Medieval 2 error

The error i get right before i go into battle is the typical Medieval 2 has encountered an unspecified error... confused about this since its on the same set up as i had on my last computer (stainless steel, crimson blood, reallybadai). i was using windows 7 then but now i am using windows 8. are there any solutions to this?
