    Default Seleucid recruitment

Hey fellas, just got into this mod and am playing the Seleucids.

I have a few questions about the units available.

There seems to be very few places where I can recruit the Pezhetairoi pikemen. Is this due to their historical rarity or dependence on Macedonian settlers. I seem to be able to hire Argyraspides anywhere, so I don't understand why one is available and one isn't?

My other question is regarding the Katakoi Phalangites. Any idea why I am able to recruit them in the "military training" buildning, but as soon as I upgrade the building to an army base (I think this was the upgrade), the Katakoi is no longer available. I use that unit for the bulk of my armies, so I am somewhat annoyed that they just disappear. Any reason why?

You've upgraded your military barracks which in a sense implies you've also chosen to upgrade the settlement status of military settlers. Your old katoikoi phalanxmen are now replaced by a new type of soldier (katoikoi simply refers to a type of military colonist with land alloted). In any case the matter is most likely technical as related to the unit roster. Several other units disappear as well with the katoikoi. If you want to keep them - this is how I do it at least - you'll have to roleplay it. I try to implement a measure of historical sense in my campaigns, and try to limit the amount of high level barracks to some logical key areas. I'm no modder here so I'm not sure whether the replacement of the katoikoi is technical related to the unit roster or a gameplay choice related. All I can say is that if you want to keep them, don't upgrade your barracks to the max that's what I do.

I suppose so. It just seems wierd that after an upgrade, a decent phalanx unit gets upgraded to... nothing. There is no correspoinding replacement unit to fill its spot in the phalanx, except Argyraspides, which I'm pretty sure cannot have been the devs intentions, seeing how relatively rare they were. Surely the colonists which the Katoikoi were drawn from would still be in the area?

I try to roleplay alot when I play the campaigns (stay within Greek historical regions etc) btw, but I cannot for the life of me understand why it was so critically neccessary to remove recruitable units after an upgrade?

Can I mod any files to keep them recruitable after the barracks upgrade?
